The Epic MOUL Mod Poll

At the risk of creating multiple topics about the same thing, I present to you the poll that everyone wants to vote in. I think it will be interesting to see what people choose; there has been quite a lot of discussion on and around this topic, much of which has occurred on this forum, in writers IRC, Slackers Chat, Cyan Chat, various blogs, and on the MOUL forum. You're welcome to state your vote and why you voted the way that you did.

PS The evil moderator of this forum told me he he'll be nice (this once) and won't delete any posts that bash people.

Having conversations with yourself is usually a bad thing :P

The results of veralun's version of moderation have been more miss interpretations & bias moderating with no recourse or PM’s. The one PM I did receive, long ago, from veralun stated that I should already know the forum rules. I responded back that I thought I did know and understand the forum rules but I did not understand his interpretation of them and to please explain. I received no response to my plea for help and my miss understandings.

I disapprove of the job that Veralun does as a MOUL moderator because he

    1) Does not PM on post deletions.
I often find myself wondering why my post was deleted. Usually, my deleted posts are obviously going to be deleted; however, sometimes they catch me off guard and delete something I do not expect. Natually, I do not receive a PM about it. To get a PM, I have to repost the *exact same thing* about 3 times (each time, it is deleted without notification). Finally, I may get a PM that tells me that my post was "no contribution to this topic". Never in my life have I ever seen any other moderator delete posts for going off topic. This is where you SPLIT the thread or hope that the topic is not derailed (and keep an eye on it).

    2) Gives easons for locking topics that make no sense
The best example I have is for when his only remark is "It is time to close this topic." WHY? You don't give us any information. Any attempts to question other mods is useless as you receive no response (we'll get to why I never ask Veralun a question next).

    3) Cannot speak English
I feel this is self explanatory, so I will leave you with a quote only.
veralun wrote:These posts do not contribute to a good atmosphere here on the forums.
    Therefore I lock this thread.

Seen the importance of discussing about fan ages and custom servers and canon we suggest to open a new topic.
Please try to post constructive so that we get a good discussion.

These are my main beefs with him. I have a few others, but they will likely lead to a circular argument that goes nowhere, which I'm not really interested in getting into at this point.

I had originally just kept away from the Veralun debate. I don't visit the MOUL forums regularly anyway, so I didn't get a good look at what's going on. It is only recently that I've seen Veralun's attempts to justify his actions. Disturbing stuff.

See viewtopic.php?f=72&t=4262 for why I voted "Disapprove"

I'll just say this:

The number one most useful and important skill for a moderator to have is communication. All associated jobs extend from that.

If one does not meet that criteria it is not a personal slight. It is simply a matter of assessment for a fitness to fulfill the duties of the position.

I'd love to hear the rationale behind the two approvals. We have a lot of disapprovals...

I am one of the approvals.

Cyan owns the MOUL forum. The mods there, including veralun, strictly follow policies set out by Cyan. Therefore they are good mods. You can shoot the messenger but that does not change the message. And I don't expect that message to change until open source has officially arrived.
