Problem running Uru:CC (wine)

The application starts, I select my avvie, and get a black screen. I can hear the sounds. At some point between the Ubisoft theme and the link-in sound, visual completely vanishes. Once the link=in sound happens, I can hear the Relto sounds, but there's no open window and nothing to see. Ubuntu's process manager shows Uru taking up 100% of processor.

In an attempt to debug some, I started a terminal and ran wineconsole cmd
In cmd, I navigated to the CC directory, then ran UruSetup.exe.

The output from my terminal is in the spoiler
output Show Spoiler

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm running unpatched wine 1.1.41 on Ubuntu 9.10 installed clean a couple of weeks back.

Weird, Uru is working fine here (okay, some crashes in Minkata, plus some random rare weird crashes on minimize/restore). I am currently on version 1.1.42 but plan to revert soon, since Minkata worked fine in 36... or was it 37?

Well, this is a reported bug in wine (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21808) - I just added my specs and log dump.

I even went to the trouble of a clean install of CC, to make sure I didn't have anything corrupted. Not a happy camper here.

Now I need to either downgrade or run multiple versions of wine to make things run. Grrrrrr.

Well, I have a running version again. It cost me a downloadable install from GOG.com, but I'm not complaining.

What I did: In PlayOnLinux, installed wine 1.1.38 (the last "good" version). Used PlayOnLinux manual install function to install the downloaded CC (POL doesn't do terribly well with multiple disk installs), giving it its own wine prefix and setting the wine version to 1.1.38.

Everything ran perfectly. I'm now redoing everything, partly for the heck of it and partly because my avi in my main install already has everything - by playing it all again, I get the d'ninuts

Drizzle's pulled and converted everything (I'd forgotten how sad the Myst 5 rainy Myst Island was), and it's all running and happy.

Maybe NEXT weekend I'll get the Age development environment set up.
