Empty Cavern and Pelishard

Postby Rabbit » Sun Apr 25, 2010 9:18 am

I don't know why I'm posting this...a bit of a rant/vent really. But I would be interested in what other people's opinions are on this.

Its no secret that the Cavern has been empty for much of the time lately. Only a few explorers seem to take the trouble to actually come in, although I can understand some of the reasons behind this.

But what irked me was some idiot came into the GoG Bevin and was complaining that the Pelishard server had crashed and they didn't know what to do about it and was looking for the administrator (we all know who that is!). What really p***ed me off was they then started going on about how its official and it runs with Cyan's permission and loads of people are on it. Of course, the arguement quickly ensued that it wasn't official and I quoted Chogon's statement he made that Cyan does not endorse other servers. But even that wasn't enough and I left.

Now the Cavern is back up, why the hell are people still messing around with this Pelishard nonsense? Shouldn't these people be supporting the one true Cavern and not some pirate backwater knock-off? Wouldn't people who built this server do better by putting thier creative efforts into building some Ages or whatever?

Sorry - just felt I had to get this off my chest!!

I will NOT get started on Pelishard. I can't understand why people join a Shard run by such a person. Taste differs, obviously.

But I do know some reasons to visit a (purely hypothetical  ) Alcugs Shard set up with Offline KI, MOUL, Myst V, Crowthistle, Hex Isle and *all* fan ages: There are many ages you can not visit together in MOUL. And the Offline KI allows you to do many things you can not do in MOUL. Plus, some people like the "little family" feeling of a Shard with 20-200 members. On the other hand, in MOUL, you can meet new people. I see both sides.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

You'll probably find that a lot of people here want nothing to do with the pelishard. =P

The cavern had a few people today, though, 20-odd people in the city, even.

As for the persistant lie that the pelishard is official and endorsed by Cyan, Dhelayan is a very convincing, and pathological liar.

Mr. Dhelayan has many of the pelishard's people convinced that he's got Cyan permission.

Plus, I'd rather dhel not do much in the way of ages, etc, they'd be chock-full of pelicans. *mutters*

I was once stupid enough to call Dhel my friend. It didn't work out very well at all. And I'd encourage anyone who trusts him, to think again.

So, yes, this is not really a GoW thing, Dhelayan's actions are not endorsed by the GoW, so far as I know...
Also, a funny little note: He once liked to claim he worked for Cyan and/or Ubisoft. I think he's claimed to have worked for Gametap at one stage, too.

I didn't intend this to be a Dhel-bashing thread, but I have a close personal friend who was deeply betrayed by this person (another story), which is why I have always kept my distance from him.

As for the other stuff, I would like to see a "cease and dissist" order slapped on MrD and that server shut down with a legal IP writ as well.

I just feel people who want to be a part of the community should support the Cavern and messing with this highly questionable server is not good for anyone.

Sorry - it was when someone said about thier server crashing and they only came in here to look for him, started to get my blood pressure up. I just felt the urge to write something.

Grrr!

There's nothing new here.. And not much to do beside talking or playing the odd heek/jalak game..
If only we could have some new Ages.. *hinth*hint*hint*
As for myself I spend most of my time in the cavern called Blender..

kaelisebonrai hit the nail on the head. Completely agree with him.

Had many experiences with him as well that didn't turn out well...

Or a moron. Rember: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Addressing the more generic "why would people go anywhere other than MOULa?": Because other areas allow fan Ages NOW (mine too :D).

Heya,
i dont want to comment on that PeliShard topic since it's been discussed a thousand times already and after many months it looks like no one is really interested in it. Some players like to flame us with always the same texts in every possible forum, some just want to play URU with their friends in fan ages and keep playing on the PeliShard and some just ignore it. I don't think this will change. Even if you keep spamming the same hate-posts.
So keep your opinion if you want. I don't really wanted to write any posts about that but there is something i really want to say:
Rabbit wrote:But what irked me was some idiot came into the GoG Bevin and was complaining that the Pelishard server had crashed

I really DON'T accept that PeliShard players are being called idiots just because they want to play fan ages with friends on a server who is "ruled by a full-blown liar". I think noone can say that these people cannot have heard the stories about Dhelayan. So, if they play on the PeliShard they KNOW these facts and don't care about them or have other reasons for playing. Why call them idiots?

Btw, when did Dhelayan ever claim to work for Gamtap? He also did never officially claimed to have Cyan's permission. There was just a little FYI for the players in the internal forums with the note to refrain from talking about this in the MOUL forums. Of course, he never thought that, after someone posted something about this in the MOUL forums, Cyan will say: "Of course they have our permission! They are the best. You want to play online? Join the PeliShard!" Do you REALLY think CYAN, as a company that wants to earn money, would confirm that they gave such permission and would not say something else?

Enough. More than I wanted to say. :D
