Who needs a design when you can, "put pink faux fur on it"?

Ah, Ruvinka. Such humor -- esp when you aren't doing wolf talk.

Pssst--I'm Jennifer, not Ruvinka--Ruvinka's out with possibly the worst chest cold of her life. I'm sure she'd agree about the pink faux fur though. We'll have to put that suggestion to her when she gets back...

Maybe we should make her a get well card?

But really Jennifer, I have to admit that pink bunny fur is difficult to imagine spread around your very own hand-built log cabin in Alaska.

[There must be deep contrasting currents (he thinks to himself) running in this child of the Arctic Circle.] I know; you have all those long haired arctic hares galloping about in the snow, but still, dwelling on pink ones is likely to cause people to think you've been into the apple jack.

Sorry to hear about Ruvinka's illness. I hope she won't mind if i offer a quiet little prayer for her health.

I looked all over the place, and all i could find were red bunnies. But they did agree to flatten themselves out as covering of faux fuzz (not knowing what that really meant) in order to decorate this cabin in Alaska's real North Woods.

[No bunnies were hurt in the making of this extravaganza, but four of them did give up before shooting was over, and trek off to Anchorage to get better jobs.]

Bunny 2: "I thought he said we were coating this thing with fox fur?!?"

I have to admit that pink bunny fur is difficult to imagine spread around your very own hand-built log cabin in Alaska.

Eh, it's not log I'm afraid...we used mostly scrap lumber left over from various projects (like the house). (There goes the romance, huh?) We only used a little bit of "natural" wood from the area, and that was used either for handrailings for the stairs or for pillars to keep the cabin off of the ground in order not to melt the permafrost below. I must say though, the red bunnies are a real improvement! They keep the place a lot warmer too; I hardly even have to use the stove. Thanks pappou!

And in other news, I finished two new designs for the exterior of the ERC today, during my breaks at work. The first features a tall, conical structure which elegantly mirrors Monkeyboy's conception of the inner glass cone. The reddish-yellow conical structure rests upon a wide, perfectly square platform constructed of large black stones. An inconspicuous doorway at the bottom of the cone allows entrance without detracting from the simplicity and unity of the design. This is an exterior which truly embodies the spirit of the Restoration!
My second design was even bolder than the first, and paves new ground in the area of architecture. Simple, expressive, and playful, the buildings are nevertheless designed to initially shock the viewer with their grandeur and size. Powerful as well as informative, each building in the complex combines utility and aesthetics in classic Myst style.

Wow! The time and creativity put into those designs must have been astronomical! Good work, Jennifer! Let's throw everything else away, and go with those, STAT!

In the levity of the moment (I'm still howling over the bunny conversation) I probably will not be able to make a serious point here. Nevertheless, it is that, spoof or not, the two ERC designs belong together as they appear:

and that this is really REALLY good design. As a poster it sells, baby. Even the large spread of colors (which do push the gamut range a bit) are ok. And the stencil lettering of 'DESIGN 1' works in beautifully.
That said, you could remove the Old English of 'Design 2' and what began as hokey poky fun thing winds up being a very nice lesson in poster art.

[Problem is, i guess, it fails to solve the ERC building design problem; but hey! Live 'out doors'. You can commune better with this poster landscape and watch those funky little trees stomp around.]

hehehe, you know I was thinking to myself, "That doesn't look quite tacky enough...Maybe I should replace it with something less appropriate, like Lucida Blackletter?"
