PlasmaShop ...

I cannot open .pyc (extracted python files) in PlasmaShop ... if I go to "Open" and change the the file types drop down to All Types I can see them ...but when I try and open them I just get a quick flash on a command line window and then ... nothing ...

Is this a Vista issue ... or something wrong with my PlasmaShop installation ... (I have v.2.3) ...

(I know I have done this before, but I think it was before I had my new Vista machine) ... this is so annoying, it's driving me nuts!

Did you get the very latest version of 2.2.3? Zrax had issued a fix on 2 May, which may have also fixed this problem as well.

I had the same problem with the old Plasmashop.
I ended up decompyling the .pyc files using urupython.
I haven't had time to try the new plasmashop yet.

That's the correct link:

Even though the file is called "2.2", it is actually version 2.2.3. See Zrax's blog below:

ok...that's the version I'm using (just checked the file dates/sizes ... ) ...so, maybe this is a Vista thing? (it still wont open pyc files .... I just get a command window "flash"

If I try it the way you described, I also get the flashing DOS shell with no results.

Here's the way I open PYC files in PlasmaShop:

- The file must be in Python/src in your URU installation.
- Make sure the File Browser View (the list on the left) is set to Sorted, not "ALL files"
- Expand the Python folder, then expand the src folder
- Locate your file - it will appear as a .PY file, not a .PYC file
- Double-click on the .PY file. A dialog will say "Decompiling...", then you will see the source.

Time to try UruPython maybe?

UruPython 3.1 doesn't support as many Plasma versions as PlasmaShop but it works fine for Uru ABM and TPOTS/CC. Plus it is very easy to install. It just needs to be pointed to your Uru folder once to get a few files not included in the distribution for copyright reasons.

Robert, I think you're missunderstand me ...or maybe I'm missunderstanding myself .. (more likely!) ... but, what I'm trying to do is this:

Someone sends me a .pak file ... I then open that and click "extract files" ... this then generates .pyC files (but not .py files) ...and it's those I want to open (to edit them and then save as "new" .py files which I can then "pak" ...

(I can open .py files without problems ... but sometimes people send me .pyc files too ...and those I can't )

Bob, do you have Python 2.2 and 2.3 installed? With PlasmaShop pointing to them in the Options part? I know I asked you via PM about having Python 2.5.1 as your external editor needing to be unchecked, but what about those two? You're suppose to have them each point to each python's version's .exe file.
