Hi. I'm Zander. Hooked on Myst from the first time I saw a poster, had to wait till I could afford to get a computer that would play it, by which time Riven was out and Exile was coming fast. I got bumped up by the generosity of friends, bought Uru just as Prologue was being shut down, and I've been around the forums since then making trouble.

I'm fifty-two and married. I live in Wiltshire in the UK, currently between jobs, and I'm a so-far-unpublished writer, demi-semi-pro musician, amateur artist and 3D builder (mostly so far in Vue 6, but I'm learning Blender so I can play with the big boys)and I do a rather nice spaghetti bolognese as well. :) I call myself "the heretic" because, in IC terms, my beliefs about various story-related matters differ sharply from the accepted wisdom that's been handed down. And even if Uru never returns, even if Cyan or Gametap refuse either to do anything with it themselves or to allow anyone else to, I want to write worlds, and that's why I'm here.

Hi! I'm Moiety Jean! You may remember me from such forums as The Great Tree, Uru Obsession, DRC Site and MOUL. (/troy mcclure voice)
For me it all started with playing Myst with my family, then getting Riven for Christmas, then becoming obsessed and joining the Riven Lyst for a while where I turned into Moiety Jean, saver of the wharks and adopted tribe member of the rebel sect in Tay. I obtained the three hardcover novels and still pet them lovingly on occasion. Exile was fun, but seemed a little odd to me, so I looked on the earliest Uru (being pretty much unaware of Mudpie and DIRT) news with a skeptical eye. But it only took finding the Riven wreckage in the desert of the demo to hook me utterly, and I lusted to set foot in D'ni every day until I finally was accepted into Prologue in December of 2003. I met my future husband in Eder Kemo, the infamous Brian Fioca of Sharper's journal, so yes, Uru's been very important and very real to me. Some of our best friends on the surface were found first in the Cavern.
I've been admiring the efforts of the Guild of Writers for some time now, but with MOUL soon to expire, I truly feel that Uru's future, at least as things stand, lies in the hands of the fans. Whatever we can create will keep the dream alive for whomever we can share it with.
With the ultimate goal of creating an Age home for my friends and family at The Great Tree, I've picked up Blender and have been cramming it into my brain at every opportunity. I'm hoping I can tap into the wisdom here and contribute to others in return.
As for my skill set, I'm good with Photoshop. I used it to create the official seal for the Guild of Cartographers (which was adapted into the guild seal you see in the Cartographers' pub in cavern) and one of the Tsogahl stained glass windows in the Neighborhoods. I can make some textures, though it can take me a while depending on what kind of image I'm starting with. (I'd like to branch out into taking my own photos for texture bases.) I've got many of the basics of modeling down in Blender but I still have a great deal to learn. I draw and sculpt, though I'm rusty at the moment.
Like dcos, that Guild of Writers video gave me a kick to jump in and contribute. ::high-fives dcos:: So I'll bring this lengthy thing to a close and say I hope I can become a worthy member of the forum. Thanks for the opportunity!

Hullo to everyone.
Please be patient with me as I struggle with my extreme shyness.
I've been reading about everyone's hard, and incredibly amazing work for months now. I rather feel like I am getting to know you each. I've been a fan of Myst since it first hit the shelves and I opened it Christmas morning. I've played them all except for TPOTS, which was a conscious decision in hopes that any content added from that journey into UruLive would feel brand new to me.
As for talents... >shrug< I've been fiction writing for a long time and am rather average at visual arts. I know Photoshop pretty well and years ago I had a lot of fun creating stuff in Bryce. Basically I come up with concepts, story angles, plot twists, concept art, journal/report writng..etc. Most recently I've been working with SR as an employee/restorer/rebellious upstart  .
I'd be happy to be anyone's sounding board or help out with anything at all really. What I don't know I am very willing to learn...or at least attempt. :D
Nice to formally meet you all.

Be Well.

Welcome aboard, Ruvinka.

I suspect your 'shyness' won't stop you from conquering Blender.
We look forward to seeing your other buddies too, from SR here soon – just as we anticipate the growth of your new Center.

Tell Monkeyboy that i want to see his beautiful valley for 3D-real. So, get busy.

Thank you papau, it is wonderful what I've seen you posting!
I hope you see that none of your instruction has gone to waste as I post some of my ideas for the SR's center.
I feel really passionate about the project and the community having a place to exhibit such a broad range of talents!

Good Morning all,

I had some kinda hiccup a few months ago in (re)registering here, but that appears to have cleared up. :) I'm also glad to see at least one other person who decided to work through the 'accounting error' of New Years 04 and have fun anyway. *wave*

I'm known as T_S_Kimball in the various forums and the Cavern, Tim_Kimball on TeamSpeak, tkimball on IRC (usually), and the somewhat (in?)famous 'Alan Kiesler' in Second Life (I *was* one of the first ResMods, after all :P ).

'05 and '06 had to be some of the busiest years outside of work in a *long* time for me. I was swapping back and forth between IRC, UU, and SL on a regular basis (and at one point on all three at the same time). Followed the original AB group and forum through its ups and downs. And at one point had one sim in SL billed to me (Numbakulla, which IIRC I'm still part owner) plus 1/4 of another rented for 18 months. I even spent some time on libsecondlife for awhile, and helped with damage control during CopyBot before leaving the project (due to PR concerns with work).

In Uru, I've been part of the old Honor Guard and its replacement Color Guard (great fun, but exhausting!); I may continue that tradition into SL at some point.

With all that, it should be no surprise that I wanted to take a few months off last year! :P And so I did; Just didn't realize that Travian would be such a soul-sucking experience...

So now, I come back to find a Second Shutdown. Oh well. That does not detract from the basic work here (yet), as it is still grounded in CC for now. Though I 'registered' within MOUL as Maintainer, my heart is still here, so with recent events I'm here instead.

Strengths: Writing (my shells are probably going to be journal-heavy), some texture work (I've done some work within PSP for SL, and I hope the numbers I submitted to Prin Pahts still exist ;) ), modeling (via SL), copious amounts of web space (I should be able to host a mirror of the ULM data files for the near- and mid-term, if you still want it).

My initial plans are to do the modeling for more complex objects with the help of a local-instance OpenSim, and use its XML-based prim storage to export into Blender (which is used for external modeling in SL today via LibSL). I will likely send code bounties their way if that's not 100% possible yet - I've a few L$ to burn off.

I have tried four times to introduce myself. I never actually succeeded on any other forum, because I really hate talking about myself. But I made myself do it on this one. Well, and on the newly restoring Guild of Healers. That one was easy -- I know the subject matter. I don't know anything about age building, I only know I have an age in mind I'd like to see.

I've been around the Cavern for a few years now. I've been a long-time member of the Rooftop Volunteer Association, and of CCN. I am the most reluctant reporter in the cavern, but I do think I can safely say that I tell a pretty good yarn now and then. I have quite a range of voices, too, can play music and record it, and can even sing. I create hand-built pottery and paint in oils when I get a chance.

Oh yes, I forgot the one thing I always love to do -- blend original fragrances with essential oils and work with aromatherapy. That's my link with the Guild of Healers. I have to check out the storylines in progress and the ages here, because I would like to see about building a Healing Age sponsored by that Guild. Actually, I'd like to work with other age builders to create a healing age, although I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty in blender if I have to. I signed up for a shell before I knew what I was doing, lol.

I've begun a story of my own, and will say more about it in the near future. I believe that it could span an age or two as well. In the meantime, I'll help where I can.

What is really funny is that I study the guilds in RL (medieval history) and when they first came back I hated the idea. I watched and waited, and saw that yes, indeed, the guilds now were different. More kindness, more helpfulness. I LOVE the tutorials you all have put up. Maybe I can help with some of those. I hear I am a pretty good writer.

Hmm, didn't look far enough and didn't see this thread.

I'm trucker2000 (aka Mike)
I hail from California and drive a big rig for a living. I've been around the Myst Universe since Riven released. I've played them all. Missed out on the original Uru Live due to being on (gag) dialup at the time which didn't meet the requirements.
While playing Riven, I wondered how they did it, and while playing Exile, I got the chance to join a team to find out. :)
I had a lot of fun working with that team, but it broke up before a game was ever released. Since then, I've practiced modeling for myself, and have attempted to learn C++ programming. I've made several demo games that I released free on my website.
Due to running 2 active forums, and my day job, I don't get into the cavern as much as I would like, but I still got in as often as I could. The news of Uru closing was a very sad day. I had thought, and even tried a few times, to make a game that was simular, but never got anything I could ever show. (I'm no artist)
Here, I'll jump in where I can and see if I can model something for an artist who can't model. :) I find it challenging and fun.
So that's me in a nutshell.
If it exists in the real world, it can be created in 3D
