Cyan owns the rights to URU?

Saw this over at GoMe.

Part of me thinks that the GameTap support junkie who answered that question doesn't know what he's talking about...should be interesting to see how this develops.

Maybe someone should post this at MOUL and try to get a response from a Cyantist?

That GT person might have responded a bit hastily..
What is theses days called 'the Uru rights' throughout the community covers a number of various things (among which, but maybe not limited to IP rights, and publishing rights) most of which we really don't have a single clue about except the very little tidbits Cyan occasionnaly let slip.
Such matters are quite sensitive and it is common pratice not to disclose those publicly. (Some companies even call that common business sense.). I dislike the speculation there is surrounding all this, because we speculate with essentially zero material.. And yet many people claim to know the Truth. Cyan doesn't want to communicate too much around this, they have their reasons. When and If they want to tell more they will, and I'm pretty sure asking them won't lead to much beside a very diplomatic response.

The rep said that Cyan has their IP rights. The ones we're interested in are the publication rights, I believe.

In his recent interview, Rand talks a little about Uru's state, and says several of the rights were transferred to Gametap early on and Cyan is working on making an arrangement.
