Justin, why do you keep pointing to a locked thread over in UO? What is it you want to discuss?

Spreading game files around is a no-no. Cyan has asked us not to do that. Agreed. Neither here nor the GoMa is that being done.

The use of Age Creation Tools, or Drizzle is in a "Grey" area according to Cyan (you quoted them), and they neither approve nor disapprove at this time.

So what is the point you are trying to make?

Justin pointed to the UO discussion in reply to BAD.

Yup, I was pointing to the discussion in UO, in reply to bad... and what point am I trying to make? well, in that old topic (now locked) I kept asking people if they could just ask cyan about it, but no one would do it... they just kept arguing, and not taking down the files... so I E-mailed cyan... and after all this time I got an E-mail back from them. That's all I was posting here, the response to an E-mail I sent back then. I just thought it might clear a few things up for sure... I mean people have told me that cirtain things are probably OK, but I wanted to get it from cyan before I actually converted MO;UL files, as well as some of my friends.

Ah, I see.

And just to let you know: no, you were not the only one to email Cyan about things. Just the only one to post a reply.

Then I'm going to have to reply with: Why did you post this here? There was little/no debate on the subject here. This post would have been more appropriate on UO (but would have been locked immediately as it would likely be seen as reviving a closed topic).

Perhaps a reminder about a certain journal where some people spoke in support of Drizzle and the distribution of MOUL files.

I certainly see no problem with Justin posting Cyan's response here. All information is good even if it's not.

Then it's a good thing he posted the reply.

No sweat. I think it's not really about you posting this. It's more likely in the art of choosing the right sentences.

Often it has to do with what you can unknowingly imply by your wording.
In this case your post could've been misinterpreted as "stop distributing the moul files, cause I got word from cyan"
That can evoke a response of "we aren't doing that, so what's the point of you telling us that".
(yeah, I know you didn't write it as such, but the title was a bit ambiguous in that respect, and in the post itself you speculated that there could be still people distributing it, adding to the ambiguity for the quick reader)

Often it just helps to be a little more precise, or better yet: explicitly indicate that you know people aren't distributing moul content, and that they are right in doing so cause you got word from cyan. That way you acknowledge the existing decisions, and are using your info to add to their weight.
(And I think that would be exacly what you intended with your post :))

BTW, just hit me if I get too picky with this :P
One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.

well, as I said, I wasn't sure if people were or not, so I just wanted to make sure, just in case someone didn't. It seems like a smart thing to do, if you just received news from cyan that you think might be important, to post it... whether you're sure if it will or not. What harm can come of that? I don't see what the fuss is... I didn't post anything offensive, or irrelevant... so why even waste a post by asking why I posted something, that obviously could clear up some issues?
