Yes, someone did. http://guildofwriters.com/phpbb/viewtop ... =36&t=1479

It's been there since 1.3.1

Since 1.3.1? I guess nobody wanted to write up a tutorial?

I don't read every single forum on here.....not enough time in the day for that. I wish I'd seen this before.

Does it work? Any bugs?

:) That's probably a must have feature if you are adding water to your Age.

Worked........no more suddenly skips.....but a little too well, hahahaha.

My water disappeared. Obviously the softvolume itself doesn't act as a trigger.......

So off to search through all the threads until I find where it says how to use it.

The softvolume should be all you need. When you're inside the volume, the objects that reference it should become invisible.

ROFLMBO!!!!!!!!!

Okay NOW I understand what the hell Paradox was refering to when he said that they work the opposite way!!

And that also explains what I did wrong.

And, no....still not working.

Let me show what I'm doing, and then someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, as there is NOTHING on how to use visregions at all either on the wiki (nor softvolumes for that mater), or the only thing I can find on softvolumes, other than the little blub that D'Lanor pointed to, is about using softvolumes for lights. We don't have any good discussions on the forums on how to use softvolumes for sounds, nor for visregions.

Okay, like for lights, I created 2 cubic soft volumes, one that goes around my large ocean waveset, and another that goes around the wavesets I made for my little canal in the caver (BTW - I really think the main thing that is causing the stutter is that my ocean is so big, but again, I only get the stutter when another waveset is added).

I give each one a unique name. Then in the ALCscripting I put this for like my ocean waveset:

Code: Select all
oceanwaveset:
    visual:
        visregions:
          - "!(innerwavsetreg)"

Where "innerwavsetreg" is my visregion that is around the wavesets that are in the cavern, when I enter it, it should make the Oceanwaveset stop being rendered.

Then for the other wavesets in the cavern I have:

Code: Select all
canlflw1wavset:
    visual:
        visregions:
          - "!(oceanvisreg)"

where "oceanvisreg" is the visregion around my ocean, so that when I enter it, the other wavesets are no longer rendered.

That's what I understood from Paradox's explination in that post that D'Lanor pointed to.

What is happening is: all the wavesets are just not being rendered, period.

Fiddle with it. Try removing the !, try using a different softvolume...

My original testing indicated that you specified regions where objects should be invisible. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't... I have a few places where I needed to specify where I wanted the objects to be visible...

The best way to test is to get flymode and fly outside of your softvolume. Does it start rendering? If yes, remove the !. If no, double check that your region is convex (no concave regions allowed).

Wait a minute....

I have to specify the region with Bounds turned on?? I know we have to do that with click regions.....but like my softvolume for the sun I didn't....don't rather.....

That is the general rule for all regions. A region must have bounds to detect the avatar.

I thought PyPRP was setting bounds for regions automatically upon export though, because regions tend to work without them as Andy has noted.
