GPNMilano: Yes - you can use even a hex editor, if you're insane enough!

Lontahv: welcome aboard!
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.

Insane or crazy, but yes, that question was brought up in the last contest

And good luck

Thanks RTR and Grogyan. :D

A question I have is: When can I start planning the age? Is it ok to plan as long as you don't start modeling before it starts?

Well its my feeling that you should wait until the contest starts.

cause one way I like to think about the contest follows

1 week planning
1 week building and scripting
1 week testing

During the very first contest which was only 2 weeks, the planning part was done in like just 3 days, with building taking 1.5 weeks leaving just a couple of long (so very long) days testing.

I do have a question for you Lontahv, cause I have tried both 1.3.0 and 1.3.1 of the plugins on player made and Cyan Ages with Blender 2.7.1x, and I get no where fast, the only successful import I had was with an experimental Age I had done that was basically some geometry a few regions and a couple of cameras.
With that import you did for Tsogal, what versions did you use, cause that will help some of the newbie judges looking importing Ages from this contest to see how well it was built?

Development version of PyPRP2. It imported in 10 seconds with no drizzling beforehand. The importer is still lacking lots of things (it's currently just mesh, vertex-paint and UVs really--no materials textures etc. yet).

I'd give you a link and ask you to give it a spin but it's a bit more involved since it uses libPlasma (needs to be compiled). It's really up to Zrax (who has given us the wonders that are libPlasma :D ) and the other devs if they want people accessing version 2 and PyPlasma at such an early stage in development.

I'd like to try that version, but I like the one I use, it may still throw up a few errors, but at the very least I get all the goodies of importing a MOUL age that I do with importing any other age. (From what I've heard about PyPRP2, and the dev's plans for importing though, after it develops more I'll probably like that version more.

I too believe that planning should be part of the contest weeks. Although off course it would be impossible to shut my mind out completely until then. I will wait with really sketching and writing things down until the 1st.

Added my name to the list, this will be fun :D !

I'm a little confused by the theme- I understand that there shouldn't be a focus on puzzles (no problems there), but the wiki claims that it should have something unique in it, and this thread says that it should evoke feelings and be a relaxing 'hang out' age that looks good- which one should we go with?

EDIT: both is fine with me, if that's how it is

It could be anything, but it must be contained within a 200 x 200 x 200 unit cube (excluding scenery and sky dome).
There isn't a focus on puzzles, but as always we'd like them, puzzle related contests will come later as more and more people have a go at Age building

So it is just a place to hang out, or a garden, a look out or something else.
