I did that Tweek. Go up to the 2nd post down on the 2nd page. I made a link to it.

Random thought:
I especially loved the Riven fly-bys because of the way they looped at the end rather than simlpy stop and freeze. I was thinking of how some Uru Ages fly-bys might look and suddenly thought that the Teledahn hut linking point fly-by could look a lot like this..
The trick being to simply play two videos end-to-end with the second video looping I guess that would be doable in Uru too; am I right?

If we can put a camera in a custom Age, it should be possible to add a similar one in a Cyan Age, using tools such as Page Editor and PrpEditor. It is pretty much the same technique as extracting snow from Eder Delin and importing it into a custom Age, as explained in Andy's tutorial.

First off, let me say that at best I have only a fleeting understanding of Age creation, so what I'm about to suggest may be complete gibberish, or be completely infeasible. There seems to be two ways of getting a high quality fly-through video of the Cyan ages:

1) Get a camera into the Cyan age in Uru. I seem to vaguely remember someone mentioning that it was possible to get content into an existing age by hacking an new page into the age. Could one theoretically put a camera fly-through sequence and an activator of some kind on it's own page and add it into the Cyan age. Then you record the fly-through with a screen cap program.

2) The other way I see it to try and import the age into Blender and render the fly-through sequence there. I realize that age import isn't working in the current Pyprp version, but the older version I thought could do it. But the real question is how would it look? Would enough of the visual assets come through intact.

Either way, those are my ideas.

Edit:

That's funny, we were thinking the same thing at the same time.

It should be relatively easy to insert a flyby camera into an existing age, and that would probably be the best route to take in terms of quality and/or consistency. (imports, even when they work, tend to not really look that much like the age would in game)

Lol! It was so hard to import the Myst V Ages into Uru, it was so hard to get animated linking panels in Uru. That's what many said, and look, you guys figured all these things out. Not blaming Cyan though, I guess they had their reasons, but it's funny how a large part of the community was wrong about these issues.

Well, congratulations on figuring this out. I agree with GPNMilano, I never missed those moving Linking Panels. Frankly, I think it would feel odd to see a moving linking panel, I'm not accustomed to that any more! :P But still a very good achievement. :)

creating a single prp file with an animated camera and a trigger region for each Cyan Age would work just fine. All you'd have to do is add it to the .age file, which we can do, and of course resum. Then link in and do the capture.

The hard part is getting the camera were you'd want it to go, without having at least the meshes imported into Blender, so you could see WHERE you've got the camera going, hehehe.

Let's see, looking at my list here, I have Gira, Kemo, Teledahn, Ahnonay Cathedral, Ahnonay Sphere 1, Watchers pub, and Myst Island from Myst V as blend files. So I can try this out with a few and see what happens, and report back here how well it worked (or not worked, hehehe).

In Riven (and other Myst games) the flyby's happened after you touched the linking book. I'm wondering if Python can be set up for a Fan Age to do the same thing.....you link and fade out, screen loads, but python has the first thing to happen is a flyby movie. Once the movie is done, it has you in the Age.....I think this is done in Python upon Game Intilazation, I'll have to look, but of course I'm about as much of an expert on Python as my 5 year old. Others might figure this part out better than me.

Quite possible, and can and has been done without python. (somone tell bob not to yell at me, I'm not at home and can't provide examples :P)
