You could just make a backup to be sure you don't break things
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

My ages have been exhibiting the strange behavior you have all noticed for a very long time. Maybe a year, by now. I have been using the TRUNK, and I only implemented the changes I'm suggesting less than 5 days ago. They are NOT the cause of, nor are they even remotely related to, the problems that you have been experiencing with my ages. They behave similarly when exported with the plugin all the way back to 1.5.0 Whatever in the export process that is causing SOME of my ages to behave strangely is present in the same pyprp that you are all using, as I do not use a "private branch".

diafero wrote:However, if Jonnee tests that he will download Nadnerb's whole branch, which will then also contain the trouble-maker (if Nadnerb does not have any local changes that caused the problem, of course). So he might get the problems even if they are unrelated to that feature. It could actually be a good testcase if the problem is caused by his branch of something within the ages.

I do not HAVE a "whole branch". The ONLY changes found in my contrib folder are the ones that I have mentioned. (go look, there's only 3 files in there) I did not even HAVE a contrib folder until 5 days ago when I implemented the shared mesh changes, and the only reason they are considered unfit for general use is that using them in spans that have sorting enabled will cause only one of the mesh copies to be displayed.

Also, since when did TunnelDemo have problems? I thought only Odema was beahving oddly? It seems you're suggesting that all my ages are somehow corrupt, which is simply not true.

I am sorry, for some reason I got to the conclusion that the problems were the result of you using a branch of pyprp. I excuse for that misunderstanding.

When I first heard about the Odema problem, Old Wolle (who is looking for ages to add/update in UAM) told me he had the same problem in both of your ages, Odema and TunnelDemo. I just realized that here on the forums, we only spoke about the Odema problem (I did not test TunnelDemo after Odema completely crashed my X-Server two times), so I will have to check TunnelDemo again. Is there a version which was released after December 16th (which is the date of the latest version in UAM, which version works fine)?

EDIT: It might also be BoxAge with made these problems... I always mix the two up :( . I will ask Wolle for clarification and test the age myself.

EDIT2: Ok, I just tried. Both version 2009Jan30 and 2008Dec15 of BoxAge crash my system on Linux (did not yet try on Windows, but these must be the versions Wolle had problems with, and he uses Windows). Version 2008Dec3 (which is the opening date of UAM, so it is the version which was up-to-date then) works fine. I guess I should make this a new thread though?
Again, sorry for the confusion regarding TunnelDemo.

It's probably too late now, but perhaps posting the error backtraces you got could give us some hints about other wasteful memory allocations (like the one in prp_Stream.py), even if they are not the main cause of running out of memory.

Did you keep around a copy of your Blender file in the state that fails to export? It could be a useful test case if and when somebody decides to debug the memory problems. (I'm not making any promises! ;))

Sry, I don't have any copied blender files that included errors. But if it will happen again I will send a pm to you with the name of the file that caused an error.

Here comes the today's questions: :D

It's not important to get them answered as quick as possible, but I'd like to know solutions somewhen.
Yesterday I spend the whole day to import objects from earlier created ages to Breldur. I think that I've produced some data garbage in Blender. Now there are alot of unused data. If I could find a way to delete them maybe Blender would work some faster.

1.) Because of the import of old .blend files now there are alot of empty scenes in the outliner. I googled for a shortcut to delete these selected scenes. But Strg+X doesn't delete a scene, it deletes the whole objects of a project and opens a new one. Anyone knows how to do?

2.) If I press F10 for the sound panel now there are alot of unused sounds from old ages. Is it possible to remove them?

3.) Because of the imports there are lot of unused materials added too. For example if I create a new material Blender calls it "material.004". I don't remember that I have used "material", "material.001" and so on in Breldur. I'd also like to clean it up and don't know how to do.

4.) Last question (and it's related to the exported age): My splashrings turn black if they fade out. Doesn't look realistic.
In fact I don't remember how I did create the splashrings. It's been a year ago when I created my very first age. So I've just imported the splashrings. Please have a look to the attachment. It shows you what I want to discribe.

So.... That's all for now. *grining*

the only one I can answer immediately is the Splashrings.

You need to play with the Add/Multiply/Mix (etc.) settings in MapTo. I found that appending it from a different blender file made it act strange ... and changing the Add/Mix thing fixed it .... (Incidentally, since that texture file is the one I sent you last year, I have found that if you reduce the Amb slider (for its material) to 0.5, the ripples are not so "white" and look much more natural ... ;))
when it comes to Age creation ... "DOH" seems to be my middle name...

You can delete the scenes in the top line of the Blender window:

Just scroll to the scene you want to delete and click the X.

If you find out how to get rid of materials/textures one doesn't need anymore, let me know, because this is annoying me too.

Once you delete the uneeded scenes, after a times saving and reopening your blend file, the materials, textures and sounds should vanish as well.

GPNMilano do you mean Blender cleans up loose nodes itself?
