Vista 64 and POTS

I posted this over at URUobsession with zero help and I can't find anything promising on teh Google. I understand you have to have POTS to access the new ages written here at the GOW. Has anyone figured out how to get it to run on Vista64? I can get URU to run fine if I don't install the other two expansion packs. It's only when I install POTS and To D'ni that the game crashes.

I should add that I tried compatability mode and even signing in as a "real" administrator thru the DOS prompt.

Thanks for the help. It's like there's an information vacuum about URU and Vista 64. I just can't find much about it......until this morning. After I followed your link I ran across another poster who says they're running Vista 64 and discovered a workaround by installing a generic driver for their soundcard. Seems URU POTS didn't like their soundcard driver.


I'll be trying that when I get home tonight. I'll post my results.

Nope. I tried the generic sound card drivers but it didn't work. My card supports EAX so it doesn't surprise me.

My problem is I don't even get past the "Play URU" screen. I click Play URU and the game crashes.

I'm off to try other stuff.

I have the original URU ABM withthe expansion packs on 2 other CD's.

That is strange.

I was under the impression that the second Xpack was a digital download and that the TPotS version (1 cd) included the 2nd xpack "To D'ni"

You could try a new installation with Uru ABM + TPotS only.

Are you certain that your TPotS is a legit copy ?

Yeah, it's the real deal.

When they first came out I DL'd the To D'ni Xpack and burned it to CD. The when POTS came out it was also offered as a DL so I DL'd that and burned it to a CD. I then took both CD's and placed them in my original URU ABM CD case and put them away for safe keeping. When I built my new Vista64 machine I went to install the entire URU pack and that's when I ran into the problem.

Everything installs fine. It's running URU with the Xpacks installed that causes the problem. URU ABM by itself will run with zero problems but if I try to install To D'ni and/or POTS they'll install but not run.

I can't believe there aren't any other Vista64 users having this same problem. I wonder if I bought URU CC if it would work.

Maybe it is because there not many Vista64 gamers around.

You could try to starting a new discussion on the MOUL's forums to cover as many people as possible.

Btw, it is the first time I hear that TPotS was ever available as a digital download. Maybe that is why Heimdall has not yet responded at ubi forums.

Would you not need a "key code" to install a digital downloaded TPotS ?
