I saw some very good points made so far

I'd like RAWA to provide honest and simple answers to simple questions.
Honest answers include "Yes", "No" and "We don't know" when needed.
Honest could also be "We said this at this date in the past, but now we have changed our mind, or now we have learned that we can't fulfil our promise".
A good example would be "We have promised to release the source code for the MOUL engine and the MOUL client to some form of open-source license. However we don't even have the staff to review the code and take out commercial parts from it. We have pushed back the ETA to June 2011".

What I grew tired of is corporate-speak, announcements so carefully screened to avoid the risk of bad press that they are devoid of any meaning. That's what I was making fun of in a previous post. Listen to any Rand Miller interview if you want examples.

If necessary, have different spokesmen, and different languages, for "Cyan" and for "the Uru team".

I found myself agreeing with you for the most part Chacal, but when you say "honest" answers, were you also implying that you'd like to see the answers be short and to the point? Or would you prefer answers long and detailed.

I understand you want Cyan being honest with us, as do I. I just want to know if you like answers short and sweet, or long and detailed.

I would suggest that we view RAWA as a messenger, and that we adopt the credo, Don't Shoot the Messenger. RAWA cannot provide answers he does not have, and so asking the right question will be important. A question such as, On what date will Open Source begin? is a stupid question to ask RAWA, because if he knew, he would have already announced it, and if he doesn't know, he will be accused of obfuscation when he honestly answers.

There's no such thing as stupid questions. Everyone is already asking him this question. It is wrong for us to insist on an answer, but I believe it is obvious that this question is in every fans mind. He has already made it clear he doesn't know when this will happen. He has made it clear that no one at Cyan knows when the open source issue will be taken care of.

Personally that's fine with me. an "I don't know." is far better than silence.

In my opinion Zardoz, I don't think there is such a thing as stupid questioners either. If people are asking questions, they are seeking knowledge about something they do not understand. I'd say doing that is a million times smarter than not asking questions and pretending you know what is being discussed, because it would make anyone feel really embarassed to be called out on it.

Another question I'd like to ask you all is, how would you all respond if RAWA was not only active on the MOUL forums? What if he was going to the GoMa forums, and these forums as well, helping us with age creation, story, and such. Would you like that, or dislike that?

Personally, I'd like to see RAWA more involved with us and our ages/creations.

I think we need to scale back on our expectations of what RAWA will do as community manager and hope to be pleasantly surprised. So far I'm impressed with his interjections into the somewhat discordant discussions, trying to be a calming influence. I still like BAD's comment that he gave everybody a spanking for misbehaving.

We actually have similar outlooks. If you go back and reread my posts you would see that I do not actually disagree with many things you or others have said. I only had really one issue with certain people here. I think it's obvious in my posts what that problem was and it doesn't need to be brought up again.

I have thought from the beginning that RAWA was an interesting choice and that we shall see if he does a good job or not. I'm still waiting for the first clue that leads us on the five month quest to find the 10 jewel pieces that you print, cut out, fold into actual 3D paper gems, then put together like a puzzle to reveal how to decipher the secret message RAWA gives out in numbers on the first total eclipse of the moon from now.

Hopefully that message won't be "Drink more Ovaltine.".

Honest answers can be short or long, detailed or not, but they must be to the point. They must not be generic and devoid of content. They must not try to mask the real message. See my example for SH5 above.

RAWA's followup on Cyan's half is on the next page, even though its a little of what we already know, that Cyan has their hands a bit tied and if there's any updates he'll let us know as soon as possible. His response time definetly makes me feel optimistic that he will.

I guess some of the posts about the techies' definition of open-source could be viewed as "inflammatory" by non-techies.

That's probably result of the difference between the techies' ideal version of open-source, and the user's and coroporate view on open-source. (We all know open-source techies can be very insistent when they explain open-source )

Still, there's not much that I'd view as inflammatory, but then, I'm not too familiar with the MOUL crowd to know what is considered inflammatory there.

Personally I'm afraid that whenever uru is finally released to the fans, the engine is so outdated that it's fairly useless.
(I'd love to be proven wrong on that though )
