Thanks for the kind works Justintime9! After doing a bunch of tutorials and reading through countless websites, I'm getting the hand of it! It's really not as bad or intimidating as I had originally thought. I'm going to start out with baby steps, and try to get it right the first time. Perhaps by the time I'm proficient, Cyan will have release some of the source code for us the start online testing. -has fingers crossed ;) -

Hi I'm StephenC. I have had not experience using blender or doing anything similar. I would like to give blender a try but I do not know where to begin on setting up to start creating ages. I was thinking about recreating a old game that I loved from DOS into a age. I already gotten permission from the original owner of the contents. Quote "As long as I do not use the characters names". He does not mind that I recreate the house for anouther purpose." I do not know if anyone remembers the game "7th guest" or "11th hour sequel to the 7th guest" made by trilobite. But this house had a point and click style feel to as well as a book that felt like it would fit right into URU since it was linking type book. Anyways I would like to give blender a try at creating this inside URU including all the puzzles except few things would have to be changed of course. Could someone point me to the right direction on what all I need to do to setup and blender and everything I need to create ages for URU.

Welco to this forum StephenC.
Everything you need for building is in the wiki.
http://guildofwriters.com/wiki/Free_and_useful_tools_to_help_in_Age_writing
Besides the already recommended tutorial "from noob to pro" i advise you to
watch these video's . Each video explains a blender function.
http://www.gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html
they are excellent! I downloaded them all redid them all while watching.
step by step. When i forget something during building i rewatch the essential function.
It takes time, but it will pay you back for sure.
Have great fun with building and learning.
Those wonderfull Worlds are called " Ages" , because that is what it takes to build one.

Oh, geez. My first post was in the wrong section wasn't it. I posted an introduction in the Off-Topic section. Forgive my mistake! :)

Anyways, Hello! My name is Crystal and I have a very strong interest in exploring and creating worlds, which drove me to come to this site, at the root of all creating in order to learn all I can. I see the links posted above by dendwaler...thanks for posting those! They are exactly what a total newbie like me needs. ;)

I look forward to all of the learning ahead! I hope you will all find the patience to guide me on my Journey.

Many Thanks,
Crystal.

Welcome Crystal!
It's OK to post something off-topic in the off-topic section! It makes your post on-topic.

Wait, if it's on-topic, that makes it off-topic in the off-topic section.

But then, if its off-topic

My forte is storyline; I've never had any works published, but have always been a freelance writer at heart and writing is what I love. I've been playing Myst since '99, the story was so complex it amazed me. After playing Riven I got into the books and finally made it to URU. After missing Until Uru, I finally arrived in the Cavern in mid 2007 for the later episodes of Live. It was at that time I began to become actively involved in the community. I have always had a knack for helping others, and I enjoy learning. A main goal in my life is and has been to find true knowledge through writing. With the help of others, I am now on that path. Being in D'ni has changed me, and inspired me to be more.

I joined the GoW because I have a good understanding of the history of D'ni and a love for the Art and writing. I have played all the games read all the books, and have become deeply engrossed in the Myst storyline and D'ni. I have no skills with modeling/etc.(but have been interested in trying them in the future); I excel in history/storyline/conceptual/design, and have written several Ages and books that I plan to prepare for release to the Cavern.

I am currently working on a major project of my own design - a blog I call Depths Of D'ni http://mihrotahn-depthsofdni.blogspot.com, which I plan to expand in the near future with my personal Myst experience; from beginning to date.

Also, I am working with others on a very interesting Age project(also of my own), Eder Bahreltahn, and the work has been going very well, with hopes the Age can be visited in the not to distant future.

I am always willing to lend a hand, and would like to offer any of my fellow Guildsmen any help I can(just pm me). I have a great respect for the GoW and it's leaders, and a love for all that is D'ni. It is my hope that we can continue to learn and grow as a Guild, a Cavern community, and a people- the new D'ni

I'm back, again. This is the second? third? extended absence I've had. Once again correlated to the shutdown of Live and it coming back. I suppose I just don't find the single player game as enthralling after live, and unfortunately age writing didn't keep me occupied. The tools were awkward, information was (understandably, given the legal positions at the time) scare, and I'm just not much of an artist.

But for whatever reason, I'm once again drawn here. The technology behind Plasma interests me greatly, and I'm hoping the tools will continue to improve.

So hello again everyone. Sorry I vanished like that... again.
