Its a shame Cyan wont let you load it up on drizzle or a Torrents it would seriously lesson the strain on their servers

They're proud folks. This is their gift to us, so give it time and we'll all be in the Cavern soon. ;) I do agree with you though, a torrent would be great.

Well were waiting even longer.

Chogon wrote:Ok. So we thought this would start a little slower at the beginning and we could start with smaller servers. But obviously there is more "love" there than we had anticipated.

So, after kicking the completely locked up (frontend) server, I am going to disable logins for a little while to let the diodes cool off and until we can add more power to the servers (like adding more lithium crystals?). So, you should still be able to create accounts and download the game but logins will be denied.

Sorry for the inconvenience and hopefully we can get you back in the cavern, asap!

Thanks,
Chogon

Chogon wrote:Ok, we will be doing something more drastic and that is to move to a bigger server.

So, we have turned off the account creation web server for now and we will be turning off the fileserver soon. Hopefully, we can complete the move by the end of day today.

Thanks,
Chogon

They didn't anticipate so much traffic. I'd like to see the looks on their faces when it froze! I guess they didn't realize they had so many fans.

The big question is, can they afford bigger servers?
I'm surprised they didn't perform an impact analysis. They have performance metrics from MOUL.
Initial popularity is not too hard to predict. They should have done the reverse of what they did: start with bigger servers and scale down in a couple of weeks, when interest subsides.

We're in a strange situation, where roles are reversed. We, simple fans and hackers, could probably run this better than Cyan can, and be more organized.

I wonder when they'll realize this and finally agree to let it go.

Yeah it surprises me they didn't go with the Until Uru model like they did after Ubi canceled the first iteration of MOUL. It worked then I am sure it would work now.

If my "host" utility is right, their servers are hosted in Amazon's cloud ( http://aws.amazon.com/ ). I thought there were easy ways to just add more capacity to an existing server there, but well...

Let me just sign this, nothing to add ;-)

Oh, I kind of like the current MOUL status message... thy had an OOC one before, now it's IC ;-)
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

And the YoYo continues. According to posts over at MystOnline. It was up for awhile. But it looks like the server has crashed yet again. I'm stuck at Checking for Patcher Update.

Personally I am a tad frustrated. It is nice that their trying to give us back MOUL. But this constant YoYo is just well frustrating.
