Yup, there's a script that comes with Blender to generate a torus. Go to Add -> Mesh and it should be at the bottom of the list.

For some reason the option "UV select mode" does not show up in my 3d view bar, where can I find it?

It was replaced with edit mode. Just go into edit mode and UV map from there.

fyxa,

Have you come across this thread yet? viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4032&start=0 It's also repeated on the wiki. Keep in mind, this is for using multiple textures. While you may not be immediately interested, this AFIAK is the best way to texture to age. You may also want to go to http://www.blender.org and make an account. There are also some extremely knowledgable people there who are always willing to help new folks like us. :P

Also, if you haven't been there yet, http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:R ... otkeys/Map is essential is you're using blender. I'm not trying to get flamed here, but seriously, go to Youtube and watch the video tutorials for UV mapping. Before you do though, make sure the tutorial is for the latest version of Blender. :)

Good luck, and remember, DON'T give up! :D

Edit: I should have added that too Core!

Are you in Textured mode at all? You can't see textures unless you are.
