Please learn to pay attention to emoticons BEFORE inserting foot into mouth.

Unless, of course, you have graphics turned off or you happen to be blind -- both of which would negate what I just said.

Really? This is your best shot at defending your position?

It might be, if I was defending something. Lighten up and grow a sense of humor.

If you're not defending your side of the discussion I suppose you don't value the position. I guess this means we all agree then : )

I don't care what anyone says, I still want to see Gahreesen turned into a Capture the Flag level for the original Unreal Tournament! :P

Myst/Uru has no player-initiated/rewarded violence. That is to say, you don't commit violence yourself and violence is never a reward/rewarded with progress

Welllll what about when you have to poison the camoudile in Revelation and when you have to snake-torture a Bahro in EoA? And you sort of unwittingly kill Sirrus at the end of Myst 4.

I don't think anyone wants to see anyone or anything actually get HURT in Uru. That's why I suggested machines as the antagonists. Or an animal could still work, where you're trying to frighten it away or something.

Those are some very good points. However, I got the impression from Revelation that the poison really just made you pass out and feel queezy based on both the strategy guide and the previous encounters with the plant. I saw the snake-torture purely as fear of a symbol and not actual physical pain. Psychological response to previous physical pain, yes. But psychological effects are used. After all, you trap Gehn and briefly trap Saveedro. Perhaps the definition should be amended with "physical" violence? And as for Sirrus, as you said "unwittingly."

Because you make this place so free of caustic social interaction. What a joke.

This whole argument wrote:NO U

See what happens when we can't vent our frustration on an evil machine that's trying to kill us? We start yelling at each other. ;) Why is it that people who claim to be so peaceful and what have you are such jerks to each other?

Right, because my blog lately is just full of snotty insults. Not constructive criticism of both sides of a number of issues. Not honest and frank assessments of where Uru, Cyan, and the community are. They are obviously equivalent to your trolling. Please, amateur.
Still, you signed up here less than two weeks ago and the majority of your posts are in this thread bashing people because they don't fit your rigid view of Uru and then trying to pull off a half-baked "oh you need to pay more attention" shtick. You obviously don't care about the game much if this is your idea of having a positive impact on it. If you did, you would be working on solutions instead of picking fights.
Tweek and others have posted quite correctly that Uru has a long tradition of violence in terms of what is seen or what has happened in the past. D'ni history has dozens of stories of cruelty along with stories of kindness. Others have pointed out your naivete that violence isn't a part of Uru/Myst. Anyone who's played the games knows that there are hundreds of interactions where other characters commit acts of violence.
Shorah, amateur.
