Hey Guys,
I've been following this right along. And I really want to see some of the stuff that you guys are seeing. Any chance of posting some pictures of these KI's for us... or just me. Please? I tried to download the files but no go.
EDIT:
Scratch that, I got at least the pic for the new/old KI up... I like it!

Before reporting that to Chogon I'd rather check once more: Am I indeed totally missing something in the Max file, or is the file indeed useless to us as it is?
There's only been one reply to his MOUL thread so far, and I'd hate to add a negative post if it isn't justified.

Re: KI and Wave Emote source released!
I’m a bit puzzled by the release of source material without a license. Somehow that (again) makes the whole open-sourcing process look not so well organized…

Well, yes and no.
It's make me wonder: does Cyan whant's to "release code to open source", but "retain copyright to code" at the same time.
From my perspective those things are excluding each over, but I'm not sure how Cyan looks at it now.

These things do not exclude each other at all. In fact, open source licenses are based on copyright.

Re: KI and Wave Emote source released!
w00t, the first time we see actual *code* from Cyan. And even the most messy of all of the files (because it is the longest
), now served with comments (mostly helpful ones like "lets output this mess" or something...
). Great news, thanks a lot

I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

Exactly.
The problem lies in the absence of a license or copyright clause.
One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.

Of course, that was combination of though shortcut and lack of enrgrish

That I was meant to say is: without realising source on some kind of licence which corresponds to "open-source definition" (like GNU, or CC)
they can still (from the law perspective) sue someone for using they source code.

Bump.

Can anobody answer that question: is the wave animation Max file, as it is, of any use to us?
Re: KI and Wave Emote source released!
I haven't got Max, so I can not view the file, but if the armature is there, shouldn't that really be all that is *absolutely* needed?
Having a mesh is obviously useful, when posing, or one will inevitably have people clipping their hands right into their arms and have a hard time seeing how extremities are aligned in the editor, but even without it SHOULD still be useable, if inconvenient, should it not? (I can only speculate)
We'd also want the "home" pose, or whatever one might call it, to begin and end the animation with, but if one don't mind wierd cuts, it should still not be vital. Since the max file contains the wave emote specifically, I'm assuming it contains the bones' key sequences and with them the same pose at the beginning and end.
