Revenge of the Nonsense
Re: Revenge of the Nonsense
It sounds like RAWA is trying to paint you as the bad guy. Now we know who has his ear.

I can't shake the feeling that I'm missing someting when I compare RAWA's response to the message you sent him. His reply barely makes sense like this.
One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.
Re: Revenge of the Nonsense
Rawa's response is the typical kind that happens when someone doesn't read what you wrote, but rather listens to someone else's interpretation of what you are writing.
His response tells me that no matter what Whil says, to RAWA, it's coming from Whil, and he was told about Whil from person A, so whatever Whil writes should be immediately suspected of just trying to cause trouble.

Re: Revenge of the Nonsense
I see it as more that Cyan is trying to stay neutral and objective because they can't be sure what either side of the community really wants. The trouble is, they're more interested in keeping the peace than they are about taking a side and changing things according to what they want. Cyan isn't going to like the sustained effort to remove one of its moderators, even if it's for the right reasons. Suffice to say, our side of the community is the only one trying to rock the boat. (CrisGer may have ranted about getting rid of us all, but he doesn't seem to have made any appeals directly to Cyan in that regard and few people support his more extreme views anyway.)
The main problem I see is that Cyan is not viewing the community members as colleagues (which we must be if open source is to get off the ground). Rather than let us criticise one another (and hurt feelings and cause flaming as it surely will from time to time), Cyan is preemptively cutting off all discussion that could lead to flaming. Veralun has been doing just that, so Cyan probably values his actions even if no rule defends them. Viewed thus, Veralun is not the main problem. He's just a symptom of this larger, restrictive mentality.

Personally speaking, I find nothing wrong with RAWA's response...
D'nial does have some good points.
