They were supposed to test explosives in the wall area in Gahreesen. I've always thought having more games in the wall area would be good. What about laser-tag or D'ni paintball completely IC?
Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).

edit: i'm not just talking about making the planet really small.
This seems like a cool game. So from this room I can go anywhere I want? Kirel? Sure I'll go there. Hey, free T-Shirts! Ah ha! This must be the best one, it's farther away! Hey, cool website! So what exactly is an age?

With some python scripting, you might be able to simulate such an effect... somewhat. This will not fool 3rd person camera though.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

:) That's a fun idea..

Are you thinking of warping the player at the edge of the Age? I guess you could handle the camera with fixed cameras and instant camera cuts..
Another possibilty would be to warp the Age instead, or rather just the needed pieces at the edge and have them appear ahead of the player. That would be quite a mess to create.
Any solution would be difficult to setup though.

But it would be really awesome if you COULD look out in the distance and see yourself.

Been working a bit on the FPS map, and I've realized that with the puzzles I wanted to involve, the tactics are a bit sacrificed for them.
I don't like games like Halo, where there is little strategy and players just run around shooting. I like FPS, because I like the tactics of FPS.
So any loss of strategy, and I don't really like the concept that is ruining it.
It's a good map though, (or at least it seems to be. never know for sure until you put players there and see if it's any fun.) but maybe not for MYST. There may be a Myst FPS in the future, but this map belongs in another game. However, the idea of putting a little Myst style into it has improved the map.

btw, Germany is awesome

No, you wouldn't be able to see yourself either way.
And keeping the illusion in a multiplayer environment will also be hard.

can i say that the character had the ability to create age instances, you just can't visit more than one instance?

As a classical Myst fan; I originally assumed that when you edit a descriptive book, you do not actually change the age, but rather that you change what age the book will link to. You could have multiple instances by keeping linking books from the previous versions of that age, and the new universe might not remember your visit.

Anyway, I need someone who can explain all the rules on this to me.

I know this is getting a bit off topic, but when I started playing the first Myst game, my conclusion about ages since they were called ages was that they are different periods in time, perhaps vigintillions of years into the future or past, but the same location you are standing in. When you go far enough you could find any world, two instances could infact be millions of age cycles apart from each other, but always coming back to something similar in loops. If you think it's too far out there in the universe, you just keep traveling in time 'til you find a place in your own world that looks about right. For all we know, we could be looking back at ourselves when we look at the stars. I forgot about how I used to look at ages like that.

edit:
But I think there is some truth to all that, that everything is one big circle, and that eventually (even if it takes 'til infinity-1) you will find yourself at exactly the same space, time, knowledge, and everything else that you started.
