Max Files and Packing Textures.

Postby andylegate » Thu Jun 24, 2010 3:34 pm

Any of you advanced Max users out there know how to do this?

In Blender, we can pack the texture files with the Blend file, so that when we send the Blend file to someone, the scene has all the textures and materials that were put into it.

How can we do this with Max files? According to my Max Bible, it says I can do this by clicking on File > Archive and it creates a zip file of the Max file, with all it's materials. yet when I've tried this.......and sent the zipped Archive max file to someone, it's claiming that the textures are not there.

I don't know how to do it in Max, but if it creates a ZIP file, you could have a look into it to see which files are actually packed inside.
If the files you expect to be in it are really inside, there must be a different problem, e.g. pathes are not matching.

The Archiving still does not seem to work correctly......and still not sure why.

I've taken to just using the Resource Collector to pull all the textures and Max file to one location folder, and then I zip it up manually.
