I know this is getting a bit off topic, but when I started playing the first Myst game, my conclusion about ages since they were called ages was that they are different periods in time, perhaps vigintillions of years into the future or past, but the same location you are standing in. When you go far enough you could find any world, two instances could infact be millions of age cycles apart from each other, but always coming back to something similar in loops. If you think it's too far out there in the universe, you just keep traveling in time 'til you find a place in your own world that looks about right. For all we know, we could be looking back at ourselves when we look at the stars. I forgot about how I used to look at ages like that.
edit:
But I think there is some truth to all that, that everything is one big circle, and that eventually (even if it takes 'til infinity-1) you will find yourself at exactly the same space, time, knowledge, and everything else that you started.
This seems like a cool game. So from this room I can go anywhere I want? Kirel? Sure I'll go there. Hey, free T-Shirts! Ah ha! This must be the best one, it's farther away! Hey, cool website! So what exactly is an age?
