Isn't it amazing what a tree and some free grass models I found can do for a garden? Not even close to completion yet.

Does anybody know good tips on a nice looking skybox?

For some reason, I feel like grabbing a glass of lemonade and sitting on the grass :D

Hello!

Just a friendly note to say I'm not dead, and I've decided to switch over my efforts from Pontypridd to Llantern itself. I'm obviously having major problems as I now have to learn about:

1) Blending textures
2) Water

At the very least!

There may be some screenshots later today. For the time being, though, I'm working hard to learn 3DS Max and build nice ages to really try and up the fan age game. :)

The only thing I'm worrying about is the fact that I'm going to need complex Python if I want to have the standard of interactivity required for a high-quality release, and I can't code for a sausage.

(Oh, and Nye has a new last name. He's now "Nye Morgan" to differentiate himself and this OOC account!)

I'm currently at the mood where I'm deleting everything I'm creating. :| Nothing is good enough, nothing worth keeping. It's these moods that prevent me from actually getting anything released... perfection or death, but nothing is perfect or indeed decent... :(

In any case, I want to get an age released. I actually want to release something that I can be proud of. But the desire to just delete everything is making it impossible to even look at Max. Frustrating. Even when I start from a complete blank slate, I think "but my basic idea is rubbish, I should scrap that and start again", and then there's no point starting because I lack the confidience in my ideas.

These kinds of creative periods are just not fun.

Well, I had a neat idea to go along with my hand written notebooks - the main building in the area of Llantern I'm currently working on is going to have a little cd player. When you interact with it, you get about a minute of voice talking about Llantern (Nye himself, actually).

Adding a bit of character to the people who renovated ages is a good idea, so I'm going to try. :D

Part of the dynamic is the DRC-like Nye being somewhat opposed to the pro-Yeesha Chris. I'm planning to have it as a running theme through the age, with you finding loose leaves of Nye's journal (such a poorly bound thing, honestly!) which detail the things Nye doesn't talk about in the exerts he leaves in the first area. This will be a nod to both Prologue's plot as well as Myst III.

One other thing - after a little time on DI getting through the Cleft, I noticed a bunch of stuff that would make me gnash my teeth and proclaim my suckery. That's not saying Cyan did much wrong - it's merely that I'm picking holes in my own stuff. :P

Screenshots tonight!

It's amazing what you can do with some work and free palm tree models you found on the internet. :D

Looking nice :)
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

It really is amazing what some good models can do, isn't it! :D

I got 'em off turbosquid.com, if anyone wants them. I'm sort of raiding the model sites to save time. >_>

The neat thing about those trees is that I had to use material ids to set the textures easily, so happily I now know how to do that exceedingly important technique!
