Guild Meeting Hall Public Discussion

hm. A coded elevator, with d'ni symbols 1-9 and 0, with a 6 digit code would work for special areas... I like the idea of this age. It appears that you have the four major guilds in, but sometime maybe you could add in smaller balcony observation areas for the smaller ages?

(I'm assuming you mean the smaller guilds, right?)
The thing is, there isn't really any modern equivalent for most of the smaller guilds at the moment. Currently, a Guild Meeting Hall would make the most sense with just the four major guilds. However, we don't know if other Guilds or groups might appear or become more major later.

So, what if instead of a certain number of fixed walls, we have:
Thick curtains or movable walls (walls that can be slid around the center of the room [and maybe they retract upwards instead of downwards?]).
Movable furniture (for desks and podiums and benches and all).

Then we can start with the room separated for just the four major guilds. If a new guild or group comes in (either permanently because they have become a major and relevant organization, or temporarily for a discussion of some kind), the layout of the room would be changed. The walls or curtains would be pushed together (and another one added) to divide the room into more (slightly smaller) sections. Another set of furniture would be brought up from storage to accommodate the group. This would probably be an admin thing (since it would only be for really special occasions or for things that could take a little time). None of the stuff would actually move in the game itself (IC because it's very large and heavy).

i like that idea, i like the idea of retractable walls moreso, because that would block sound for discussion of the special techniques within each guild, and other sorts of private discussions such as expulsions.

It also gives a larger sense of division between the guilds, and their purposes, rather the portrayal of all the guilds kind of being under one.. which isn't how it is, in my opinion at least.

(note: yeah i meant guilds.. had my mind in different places while typing that)

Also, taking a walk around the age, I like the current feeling of it, of course there is work to be done. but it looks great so far.

I looked at the older topic and came here. I like the entire idea, an imager, six link-in points (an extra for non-guild members/supporters), the building is very cool. What is the current stage?
