Tsar Hoikas, where did the "Like" button go? Oh, yeah, this isn't Facebook.

Well presented post on the nature of the Nexus issue, Chloe!

However, Chloe, what does this have to do with where (as in, into which Nexus' interface) the links go? Writer's Nexus could just as well link to global instances. So, to me this does not sound like an argument to either side.

I think that it would be better not to create separation and not touch the Cyan Nexus at all. Fan D'ni Locations should be left in the WNexus, as it would just eventually bring us in a circle back to this problem. Now, if we were to simply add Tweek's GUI to the Cyan Nexus that would work much better.

I strongly agree with kaelis that ages should be separated and categorized by their content, without regard of the author. Also, Cyan's Nexus already got touched heavily, or does the one you can see on DI look like the one on MOUL? Sure, it's Python-only changes. And then you are contradicting yourself later on, saying replaying the GUI would be a good idea...?

The additional features of the Writer's Nexus (as in, announcement imagers etc.) can be easily changed and revised later on, so I see no need to decide on them already now.

Chloe - I decided to model a few rough Ideas for the nexus room for you instead of sketches, this project gave me an opportunity to practice more in blender, which has been lacking lately. I did glanced through the thread and I see there are a lot of ideas of what the nexus should be, are we going to put all the ages including fan created on the same nexus, or will there be multiple nexus for different areas? What ever is decided will define what the nexus room should look like..IMHO.

With that in consideration I wanted the nexus room to be versatile, it can work for a single nexus, single linking book or a combination of both. It's simply a matter of..moving around the furniture lol. First concept is a single room holding a linking book. (Kaelis I used your linking pedestal and book, hope that's ok!). I spent a lot of time in the Guilds hall for ideas and I really wanted to use an open ceiling and a round room.

The second concept was for a "community nexus" that can contain nexus(s) and linking book(s) or both. There are at least two room, one room with a link in point that will have benches, and it may have linking pedestals, the second room is larger and will have at least one nexus. What I like about the community nexus is you can add as many rooms as you like (see photos). If it is decided to go with the "Community nexus" I suggest it be used by a hood (there would have to be some capacity limit) and members of the same hood would share the nexus from their relto's. Not sure how difficult that would be to code!? The community nexus could serve not only as a linking library but a actually community area where groups could gather such as: beta test a new ages, share private linking books, or just catch up on some reading.

Note: This is not completed by any means just a rough concept so suggestions are welcome. I know the images I posted look sterile, I'm just awful at texturing so I'll probably just work the color scheme in photoshop later on.

I really like the sense of space that the architecture provides.
Have Ages, and link to them without bindings. [Words 1:13]

Could you please post your pictures as Images instead of Spoilers? It's a pain to save/reopen them all to view them in their entirety. Sorry to nitpick.

I think your screenshots are beautiful! You did a great job! Frankly, I'd like to see the blend. :)

The reason the D'ni links should go into the Cyan Nexus is actually rather simple. If you look at the Cyan Nexus (even now), both offline and online, with the exception of the invite system, the rest of the nexus is focused around one thing. D'ni locations. That's because the Nexus, as originally designed, is a mass transit system used by the D'ni to get around the cavern. Not to hold a mess of linking books to all their ages. Stripping out everything but the fan created D'ni areas and locations would bring this back to the original concept of the Nexus in the first place. A system used for Mass Transit within D'ni.

I have to say, I really do like Atheni's design, but perhaps not for the writer's nexus, at least not with individual pedestals for each Book (mostly due to infeasibility of that with the sheer number of fan Ages we have ) =) I do love the design of it, though. =)

Much thanks to everyone for the responses. Kaelis - I was focusing more on the design and feel of the room and I thought your pedestal would be perfect for spacial reference. But taking a second look I see that I didn't stage the rooms very well, I should have put a nexus terminal in there, sorry if it was misleading. But no I didn't intend there would be a pedestal for each age (that's just mean Lol). I wanted to just show the builders there is room to place pedestals, nexus terminals, shelves, benches... what every the see fit for their own needs, and with this design they can add as many rooms that they want. :D

Good point, thanks. So, you think we should remove the invites from there completely, making them available only in the Writers' Nexus? That might give us more space in Cyan's Nexus, and I do like to properly follow a clean design decision :D

@Atheni: The building really looks great! However, isn't that too big for just a Nexus? I mean, what I had in mind (and I think Chloe's design also went in that direction) looks similar to Cyan's Nexus, just with a GOW theme or something, and it is instanced without any way for two players to get there at the same time.

Diafero - I do have a tendency to over think an idea and get off track, I should have just focused on one room. The second idea with the multiple rooms is a little big, it's closer to a linking library or sorts, which I thought would be cool to share with others at the same time. But I can modify one of the rooms (shown in the first image) easy enough with a nexus terminal that will be instanced by one person at a time.
