Forum banners for members and officers

Post by Carl Palmner »

Got bored and decided to make a few banners for GoW members. The idea was to create something uniform that could be used in your signature on whatever uru forums you use--i.e. MO:UL, Uru Obsession, this forum, etc--preferably with a link to the front-page of this website. Nobody's obligated to use these of course, but if you do use them, please use the appropriate one (i.e. don't use the Director banner if you're not a Director).

And here's one for a position that is technically not created yet (but hopefully will be soon--Representatives please VOTE HERE to make it happen; we still need 2 more votes for it to be official!).

I like these icons :)
However, personally feel more like a member of the Uru community as a whole... I care about the writer's at it is, in my eyes, the place where the future of Uru will be created, but since I am not writing ages myself, I usually don't call myself a writer. So I'm not really a member of the IC-Writer's guild, but I do very much feel attached to the forum, people and organisation that is, OOC, the GoW (that just happens to have that "Guild" thingy in its name - I mostly keep out of the guild businesses). Sure, I'm even in that representatives group, but mostly because I care about how things develop here.
Hm, that might sound weird, sometimes it's still hard to express myself properly in English ;-)
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

For one thing the banners are way too large. For another thing, I don't really like the idea of having little trinkets like this that we give out to people who hold certain positions. It just makes it easier to get too full of yourself (i.e. "I'm a GoW councilor, look at my badge :D)

Yeah, that's ok. Like I said, the main reason I made them was the fact that I was bored. It looks like they haven't really caught on and that's fine.

Carl - I like the icons a lot very well done, but I would get rid of the banner. The icon alone speaks for themselves, maybe just make them a little smaller.

Oh no...they should be bigger if anything. Any signature that's less than 1024-768 really isn't attention-grabbing enough.

Carl, I think your artwork is great. Maybe some members would like to use them as avatars.
But I personally think forum banners are an abomination and should be forbidden.
Also, signatures should be discrete enough so as to not detract the reader from the actual text of posts.
