CyanWorlds.com Engine

Shorah, Writers

The Guild council, along with several members of the Guild developer community, have decided to create a GoW-sponsored branch of the CyanWorlds.com Engine.

We feel it's important that guild developers be able to work quickly on bugfixes and features that are important to all of you. Because of that, having a Guild-sponsored repository seemed to be the best choice. Guild members are as always free to make their own decisions on which projects they work on, but obviously we encourage you to submit any CWE patches you have to the Guild branch.

Along with the CWE sources, Zrax has kindly moved his DirtSand project into the GoW repositories. This is a practical decision based purely on developer experience - MOSS is an excellent project, but currently no Guild developers are familiar with it. DirtSand will be kept in sync with the GoW branch of CWE, and it is the recommended server for any shard that intends to use the Guild branch of CWE.

The source files for the MOUL python scripts were released under the GPL at the same time as the CWE sources. The GoW now maintains a repository for those, and encourages anyone with bug fixes to submit them for inclusion. The python is a great place for new developers to get started with Plasma and CWE.

Great !

just a small question did Cyan mention what version of Moul does the code actually come from ? Is it possible that they gave us the source of a more recent version of the game or at least and internal one, I saw a couple of things like this "Page=trailerCamPage,43,1" in the City age File, "Page=jlakProto,1,1" in Jalak that Chogon already mentioned when he released the max plugin "Page=Bahro2,15" and "Page=Fix,6"from custom avatars and quite a lot of others actually, that I don't remember from the previous Moul files ...

also "GarrisonNexus.age" ? looks like they heard of some of the suggestion from here about canon within the files :D

PS: "Page=VillageArea,15" in Ercana, the whole descent description !! NO don't tease us with unrealsed content !!!

A lot of that is unreleaesed (or simply test utility) content. AFAIK this is more-or-less a dump of what's running on MOUL currently.

ah, pity ... I hoped for a new ... something. Guess it's up to us now for new content :)

those ages files will probably need some fixing though or at least checking, the spyroom.age does not even list pages to load

Does this mean we are going to release bug fixes for Cyan Ages as well, or is this just a fork of Plasma?

Without a content license, releasing bufixes for Cyan ages is problematic. People will probably do it anyway, but whether Cyan will approve of that or not is yet to be seen.
