Is there such a thing?: A place where age creators can find models that fit within the Uru theme - lanterns, windows, doors, pedestals, books, pillars, seats, games, railings, architectural details - to use for their own ages to make them appear like they belong to the D'ni culture or other cultures within the game.
From what I've read it seems that any of the models or textures created by Cyan are under copyright and not released (aside from the avatars which I see recently have been - yay!). Am I right in assuming there are no models availablef rom Cyan?
If so, a Congruent Model Repository where we could share models would be useful, I think, for those who are new to modelling, or for those who love to model but might just want to make a small thing rather than a full age at any particular moment.
What do you think?

Congruent Model Repository
Re: Congruent Model Repository
This is something that was discussed as far back as COBBS, and myself and a couple of others had been working on but personal issues but it on hold. I know it's been brought up again from time to time, but I do not believe such a thing has been formally constructed.
I still think it would be a great idea, and a huge catalyst to building an active artist community, but I'm afraid we'd probably need some new developers to handle building and maintaining it, as there's already so much to do as it is!

Re: Congruent Model Repository
Could it not be as simple as having folks publish links of models here for other folks to download? At least to start ...
I brought this up, mostly because I like to see my models used places
And they would be nice quick little projects that could be easy fun.

Check out http://www.texturu.org/. There is actually already a 3-D model repository set up there, so if you want to share some models you could upload them there.

Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).
Re: Congruent Model Repository
That's *exactly* what I'm talking about Lontahv! Thanks for sharing. I'm surprised there aren't more models there.
Question - was I right in assuming that 3d content stripped from the game (that Cyan built) is not allowed to be used in new fan created ages?

Yes.
Cyan open-sourced the game client, but not the game content itself. Neither the Myst Online content, nor any of the offline URU (TPOTS [The Path of the Shell] or CC [Complete Chronicles]) files or models.
You can, however, use Cyan's soundfiles for your age (like footsteps, water sounds), because they are already available in an installation.
However, there may be exceptions - for example if you want to include a linking book pedestral which should look like those in the city, because you want to build a location which is somewhere in Ae'gura, or use "some" (few) textures to make the location look belonging to Ae'gura - but I would suggest to ask for permission from Cyan then.
Re: Congruent Model Repository
I agree with Whystler that a Model Repository is needed to make age development efficient and more in line with each other.
I uploaded the two models "pedestral and imager " and i can assure that the models meshes are different from cyan's , and made entirely by me, so are the textures.
Its easy to change them with another texture because the uv mapping is already done.
I uploaded them in the hope others would see this as an encouragement to upload theirs.
May be , we can start with it now and build a great source of models.
I will do that anyway , and will continue to contribute with new textured models made from scratch using freely available texture sources (or my own).
When enough building stones (objects) are available this will help to increase age building speed.

Those wonderfull Worlds are called " Ages" , because that is what it takes to build one.

Uh, like, at least one year ago...?^^
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.
