Of course this is the asumption that the surface is ice and you would be swimming in water.

The surface could be some other white crystaline substance and the liquid bellow could be something other than water.

A fair point but I usually try to avoid swimming in liquids other than water.

Are there any tools now that will let me import one of cyan's ages and export it again?

What the Hell! I never wrote this and that's more than a little concerning.

Im not sure if its kosher or not but I think Blender has an age importer thing-ah-ma-bob that you can use. but your gonna hafta ask one of the blender people on the site for the details as far as were to download and how to set up is concerned.

If any one has those links

I know there's a way of importing ages but you need to have a copy of Blender 2.45 installed not that that is an issue becuse you can have more than one version of Blender and Python on your PC.

The only cavitat is you watch to see which is the default for opening .blend files.

Information is available in the wiki

http://www.guildofwriters.org/wiki/PyPRP_Age_Importer

It's fiddly to set up but no big problem importing Cyan ages can hit a wall in that they are big and it's not uncommon for an age to be split into scenes.

Once you have the age imported you can save it as a .blend and then open it with later versions of Blender at this point you can navigate around looking at how various lighting and objects have been achieved for example in sharpers office how the view from the window has been done or the chrismas tree etc.

The city is big and broken into sections so an overall view is an issue.

I've only used this to learn how an age would be constructed and then it requires an effort to get your head past the detail to find particular parts.

This tool does come into it's own if you have had a PC hardware failure and one or some of your blend file/s has been lost you can go to an istalled copy and get some of the information back.

One point in its favour it will give you a better understanding of navigating within Blender and an appreciation of just how much detail there is in a Cyan age.

Thank you. I know about this, but for some reason I cannot export Cyan ages once the've been imported.

Don't expect to export them from that earlier Blender you need to save them as .blend files and then open them with a later version of Blender (I use 2.49b) there are then issues of missing texture files you may have to get using other tools before you can export and there's obviously programming stuff for animations missing needless to say it's not a quick job and realy only viable use is to asses how Cyan went about solving particular problems.

Cyan are protective of their data so don't expect help from them.

If you thought this was just going to be an import change a couple of things and re export you will need to re think this as it's not that simple.

Isn't their a way to add something in a similar way that you add something to Ahra Pahts or Relto?
