I didn't ever hear that the calculations of the above mentioned Negilahn Calculator for the animal appearances weren't correct,
but I never used it myself to look up those lovely 'guys' lol ... :P

Have just been in Teledahn trying again to lure our Shroomie to show up but to no avail, and as I've already said above, on all other
shards and in all Uru/MOUL incarnations since UU I never had to switch off the power and I never did it actually, my lagoon gate
is down (open), of course, and I'm just pushing the feeder lever a few times and she was showing up in most of the cases ...

Right now I'm looking forward to a statement of one of our great coder/programmer heros, unraveling the secrets behind this
Gehn Teledahn Shroomie mystery ... :D

/startlog and /stoplog works btw ... :)

@D'Lanor
Yeah, maybe it's a revived bug, just to "amaze" innocent  explorers, I dunno. However, beloved Shroomie seems to be much more important ... ;)
... and so I close realising that perhaps ... the ending ... has not yet been written.

Here is a simplified version of the Shroomie MOULa's script (I don't know if Gehn modified it, I know the offline-KI did).

We haven't touched the script. Given that Shroomie is controlled entirely client-side, I expect she works correctly and people on Gehn have just had bad luck. I'll add her to my list of things to play with and verify, just to be sure.

I doubt if fixing Shroomie (if necessary) is in any way a priority. Just trying to find stuff for ya.

The thing that irritates me is that my perception of what I thought was happenning is so wrong from what is actually programmed.

and if logging was enabled this is all I'd probably get...

Code: Select all

(03/13 17:18:48) tldnShroomieBrain: Shroomie was last seen423529 seconds ago.
(03/13 17:18:48) Shroomie CAN be seen.
(03/13 17:18:48) Shroomie WON'T be seen.
(03/13 17:19:07) tldnShroomieBrain: Shroomie was last seen423548 seconds ago.
(03/13 17:19:07) Shroomie CAN be seen.
(03/13 17:19:07) Shroomie WON'T be seen.
Misquote from Star Wars... "This isn't the shard you are looking for..."

Seriously... Is any logging enabled? I can't even find a chat log although the KI says it was started.

Edit: Ah, NVM. I threatened my 'puter with a hammer and it spit out Users/(meloginname)/AppData/Local/Uru - Gehn Shard/Log

And here is the log from Gehn Shard:

Code: Select all

(03/13 18:02:24) tldnShroomieBrain: When I got here:
(03/13 18:02:24) Shroomie has been seen0 times.
(03/13 18:02:35) tldnShroomieBrain: Shroomie was last seen1331654548 seconds ago.
(03/13 18:02:35) Shroomie CAN be seen.
(03/13 18:02:35) Shroomie WON'T be seen.
(03/13 18:02:46) tldnShroomieBrain: Shroomie was last seen1331654559 seconds ago.
(03/13 18:02:46) Shroomie CAN be seen.
(03/13 18:02:46) Shroomie WON'T be seen.
Gee, I haven't seen Shroomie for over 42 years,,,,

Thanks, everyone, for all the research and information - fascinating!

I was never sure whether I needed to visit the second feeder - I seem to have an answer to that now!

In Gehn I've just tried yet again and still no joy after 15-20 pulls of the lever. I don't think it's just bad luck - the probability of a sequence like the run I've experienced is minuscule. Whereas in TOC I've just had the joy of seeing Shroomie around 80% of the time I pulled the feed lever, so I've just had around 30 sightings from a single visit. They may of course have changed the probabilities for TOC. I'd say the probabilities I've experienced in MOULA are one appearance per visit, after five pulls of the lever.

I've only once ever seen Shroomie in the near position, I think it was MOULA. I usually get the far or medium distances.

I totally agree that it's not a high priority to fix this but I like mysteries and Shroomie's non-appearance seems like a big mystery to me. And I'm glad I'm not alone in this!

Happy to try and look at my logs if someone can tell me which log this would be in - I seem to have loads of different files in the logs folder that johnsojc has pointed us to.

Sorry, these were from the Python.0.log in the Minkata shard and Python.0.elf file on Gehn. You need the elfview program to read Gehn's log as the logs are encrypted as they were in Uru:ABM (and early MOUL on GT). The .0 files are the newest. I'm pretty sure the game has to be closed to read the newest log file.

Directory locations:
Gehn - C:\Users\(yourrsystemloginname)\AppData\Local\Uru - Gehn Shard\Log
Minkata - C:\Users\yourrsystemloginname)\Documents\Uru Live Minkata Shard\Log

Remember that you have to wait 4 minutes before Shroomie can be triggered again after you pull the feeder lever and you only have a 1 in 4 chance that the trigger will succeed (if you can believe the code). I'm curious about that crazy large number for the seconds since Shroomie was last seen. Makes me wonder If there is a math issue handling a number that large.

The simpler way to access the path is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Uru - Gehn Shard.
You can keep the log files open during play. If your editor is one that notices a file has been changed and allows you to reload, you can do so to watch the log.
