Well, ladies and gents, it's almost that time again. This Saturday, the 7th, will be April's All Guilds Meeting, held at the usual 13:00 KI time in Kirel. I will be moderating the meeting this month, as Leonardo has real life obligations, so please PM me here or just before the meeting in-cavern if you'd like to present something.

See you there!

Suggest that the forum post in its header current shard 'KI Time' and other salient shard stats.

'KI Time' does not seem to be well defined.

I think it is US Central Time but does that include daylight savings (a totally unnecessary time shift IMO).

UTC is really the only safe option for time in a community this international.

LOL You young-ins sure wish to confuse an Olde Timer LOL

First I had to get use to using GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)
Which became International Atomic Time (TAI or IAT)
which was then cut to CUT and TUC (Coordinated Universal mean Time)
Now it is UTC (Universal Time Coordinated)
and that is only for Earth don't get me started with astronomy and geology.

I wish someone would stop changing their mind and standardize something...

Since the whole daylight savings thing is still messing some people up, I'll clarify the times a bit.

13:00 KI time is:

- 3:00 PM Eastern
- 2:00 PM Central
- 7:00 PM UTC/GMT

These times are to the best of my knowledge (which isn't saying much :P ) so if I'm wrong, please correct me. I'll edit accordingly.

UTC...that's an european concept LOL really ;)

In USA & Canada we live with time zones that identified where they are:

NewFoundland (half an hour)
Atlantic
Eastern
Central
Mountain <---- that's where KI time is.
Pacific
Alaska
Hawaii

That's our reality!

We only have to make subtractions or additions and there you go! Anyway we are used to time zones. I don't know many that cannot tell what is the time in New York, Chicago & Los Angeles right away & without even think of it just by looking at their own time.

Exactly--Clear as mud. Switch to UTC/GMT or have it posted live on the forum header.

Who wants to keep asking for a clarification each time an event is announced.

Windows 7 allows me to set up multiple clocks so setting up a KI time clock is easy. Problem is if KI time is Central or Mountain time my Windows clock will change automatically for DST. If KI time does not honor DST then we have a problem in spring and fall. More clarification required.

Is there a way to have it ticking away on the KI? It is supposed to KI time. Or can you announce the current KI time in the login dialog?

Note: KI Time should include the date and day. It could be after midnight in Europe for a late night session.

I've considered setting KI time to UTC on a private shard, but considering this later I changed my mind as it simply wouldn't be logical. However maybe some kind of mouse over showing local time and UTC offset could work ?
Code: Select all
long longestTimeWithoutPlayingMoula = (new Date()) - (new Date(2014, 9, 26));
