DI Shard on MacOSX Sierra 10.12.3

Postby boblishman » Tue Feb 21, 2017 9:28 am

Hi Guys,
Has anyone out there managed to get this shard to run under Wineskin (or by any other means) on Sierra 10.12.3?
It seems that something changed in that latest MacOSX update (10.12.3) that broke all my CC/TPotS shards (under wineskin) , plus the offline game as well.
(Ironically, all the MOUL based shards (including Ghen) are working )

If you have managed to get into DI on a Mac (NOT using a windows partition or Parallels) under Wine (or some other non-Windows method) a heads up would be MUCH appreciated.

I really want to try Dulcamara's new Age ... :geek:

I haven't had any issues with the 10.12.3 update. My offline and Deep Island installations (as well as all others) still work as usual. As far as Alabaster, however, it seems to have a few coding errors. To get the link to the age to work I had to turn my graphics settings all the way down, which of course haas to be done before the game is started. And once I tried to use the automatic link at the start of the Age I got a stack dump. But I was able to reach Alabaster both offline and in Deep Island.

Offline I'm running wrapper version 2.6.0 and engine 1.5.0.

Deep Island I'm running wrapper version 2.6.2 and engine 1.7.51.

Side note: I still can't get the Gehn Shard to update itself without porting it to a Windows machine. Have you found a workaround for that?

Yes. Use the "/image" flag in Wineskin BEFORE starting the Shard. It downloads any missing or updated files. The process is described in this post .... viewtopic.php?f=117&t=5631&start=90#p70711

Can I ask what Mac you are using (basic specs)?

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro with 2.8GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, and AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048MB graphics card.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I use Wineskin 2.6.2 with Wine version 1.5.0 for both offline and Deep Island, and it still works now that I’ve updated to Sierra. All I can suggest at the moment is trying with another wrapper.
Deep Island #194197, MOULa #46116, Gehn #137074, Minkata #132812.

I am getting a stack dump during the start up of Uru.exe, prior to the update window on DI and prior to the avatar selection box in the Offline game.
I have tried all the engine/wrapper configurations mentioned in this thread but to no avail.

Would there be any point in me posting the stack dumps? (They mean nothing to me)

No idea why (possible Mac update?) but for some reason, when I tried today ..... they all WORK!!

All of my tPotS shards are now working together with my Offline game, CC.

At last I can visit Dulcamara's updates and additions as well as popping in to see some new additions and old favourites!

(For information: using Wineskin wrapper 2.6.2 and engine 1.7.51 on MacOSX Sierra 10.12.4)

EDIT: what the actual **** ??????? .
I just tried to start the DI shard and it wouldn't get past Uru.exe. Then I realised that I had closed iTunes. So I restarted iTunes ... and it works again. WHAT???? So, I tried again with iTunes closed and it doesn't work!! I tried with my offline CC and it's the same. They only work if iTunes is open (it doesn't need to be playing anything, just open). Same with the TOC-tPotS shard. So, if I want to play DI, offline CC or TOC-tPotS shards I have to start iTunes first. Madness. Total madness.

Maybe iTunes is opening your firewall in some way which the game turns out to rely on?

(Not something I've heard of re iTunes, but it's all I can think of.)
