Storyline for Writers + Maintainers

Post by Montgomery »

This is for a future when (if) Writers Ages get approved by the Maintainers and then released into MOUL.

The idea is someone (disgruntled ex-Maintainer, prankster, whoever) breaks into the vault where the Maintainers keep the linking book for the Ages they are inspecting, and releases one to the public before it has been finished. The Maintainers find out and immediatly announce that it is a terrible mistake, and that by no means should anybody visit that Age. Naturally, everybody will.

So, while technically the Age is perfectly sound, it is designed with intentional "Writing" flaws, such as large carnivores (evidence only, or course), or sinkholes, or severe weather, or acid in the water, or whatever. We could have some "explorers" get bady hurt and have to get rescued and treated, etc.

I realize this is a ways off, but a definite way to interest and include the explorers.

I don't know if there would be a way to code this into a live build of an age, but perhaps it would be cool if there was an explorer (or in-game character) that other explorers were told to KI mail when they saw a flaw in the age, and then slowly, over the course of a few days, the flaws got fixed. I suppose the tradeoff in this would be that it's way cooler in the short-run, but not as cool in the long-run.

Acid in the water.. I think Phil visited that Age. That would explain a lot.

How does said person break into the Guild? These things are kept under some pretty tight watch.

If maintainers kept making new designs of those popular Age testing suits of theirs, what would be their features? Maybe a heads-up display, or possibly a computer which tracks the user's health, or better yet, a temporary force field to avoid beatings?
This was inspired by a shooting game known as Half-Life, where the 1st-person player wore an orange, Hazardous Environment Verification (H.E.V.) suit meant to protect him. The odd thing is, it has a huge collar, but no helmet! Even comes with a flashlight, run, long jump, and vision booster. Not to mention an automatic pain reliever injector plus an anti-venom administrator. So iron man, but wow!

PS: Maintainers' suits I + II (old + heavy and new + light) should be my future tech industry's official uniform.

That looks like the start to a fun outing, Montgomery.
I would be happy to help with the preliminary layouts, maps, storyboards, etc.

Treated by the Guild of Healers http://guildofhealers.net/forum/ and reported on by the GoMe. It is a great idea Montgomery.
