Neither has mine... This will be my first actual Age anything so...

I'm probably well in the running for dead last, but I'll learn a bunch anyway

I'll beat you to that place. They are probably gonna use my shell as an example on how things are not to be done :D

I wrote in the first thread of this contest that I had sent what I have done to Aloys. But since it was done before I got my shell, the shell is not sent with it. Only the blend file. It is not much, only part of a house (and a very alphaed bunny), but will I need to put it in my shell and send it again?

Tinuviel: welcome back!

Aloys is currently having ISP issues, so I'll be forming the initial version of Ahra Pahts for review by the RAD2 judges.

Put your house and bunny into your shell file, then export it (using the instructions here) and test it to make sure it works. Then send me via email your PRP file. I'll PM you my address.

---

[EDIT] I received Tinuviel's shell. Later on tonight, I'll make the "initial" version of Ahra Pahts available for preview by the judges. This version will contain the initial version of the shells from Tinuviel (309) and mar (224). I'll add a link to this version on the RAD July 2008 page.

I also added mar to the contest sign-up sheet, as well as a map showing the contestant shell locations.

In case no one has contacted Cyan yet, I'll send them a message asking if they want to participate as a judge.

OK - the initial RAD2 version of Ahra Pahts is available for download. You'll find the link in the new downloads section of the RAD Wiki page.

Judges: please review shells 309 and 224 and become familiar with their current state. After the contest is over, you will need to compare the progress made on these shells with the final RAD2 version of Ahra Pahts. I suggest you take notes and screenshots of these shells, since you will not be able to have both versions installed at the same time. (Unless you have two URU:CC installations, of course!)

Excellent, thanks Robert.

I'll have a look at them myself shortly, and take a couple of screenies

Can I jump in late (I think) with a new shell? I just discovered this contest today and I would like to be scored, even if I can't place. (I've got my eye on 426...)

di gama: you can join late, as long as you are comfortable with having less time than the other contestants to finish your shell. Regardless of how late you start, you must submit your shell by 23:59 GMT 21 July.

Note that shell 426 is taken (see the Ahra Pahts Shell Sign-up Sheet). How about shell 427?

---

A note for the judges: LaReh had asked me what exactly he should be doing with this initial RAD2 version of Ahra Pahts. Here's my reply:

All you are doing now is simply noting what shells 309 and 224 currently look like. When the final RAD2 version of Ahra Pahts is released at the end of the contest, you'll need to evaluate these two shells against the progress they've made since the initial RAD2 version. This is different than the other shells that are starting from scratch. Since you cannot have two versions of the same age loaded into URU, you'll need to view each version one at a time.

So, take lots of screenshots of these two shells in the initial version; you'll need to refer to them once you replace it with the final version.

You can, but you'll have less time than the others as the contest has started and will carry on till the 21st of this month.

If you're new to Blender and feel as though its too much, you can still submit the shell at a time that is more favourable to you, it just won't be scored on.

All shells, past, present and future will be analysed by the GoMa, so they are like the everyday judges on all our projects

I'd like to announce that Mark DeForest (Chogon) and Eric Anderson of Cyan Worlds have joined the judging panel for this contest! Mark just let me know that they would love to participate, and that he will also try to line up a third Cyantist judge. I've added columns to the sign-up matrix for their scores, and I color coded the names:

- red: Writer judge
- green: Maintainer judge
- cyan: Cyantist judge (of course)

Welcome to the contest, Mark and Eric!
