Sounds GOOD TO ME! I'm excited to see how Cyan will begin to integrate our stuff with theirs...

Merp, let's just wait and see.

We may or may not get tools yet, seeing as Cyan has JUST gotten back the rights. Let's just sit down for a moment and wait and see where this goes, before we get too excited that we expect things that might not be possible at the time.

However

YAY!

Now, if we DO get tools, that'd be great, seeing as I hate using Blender in comparison to other programs like GTKRadiant and feel it's very cumbersome. This'll be interesting to see unfold.

I'm eager to see what protocol Cyan will offer for us submitting Ages.
Hopefully we will be consulted on this.

It's a sign!

What great news! The tools might be a bit difficult to release, though- wasn't (well, now it's the present tense isn't, I guess) Uru made in 3DS Max, something which the majority of the community wouldn't have? Hmm, could be interesting. Wonderful news, neverless, can't wait to see how this progresses!

That editor you used is actually called Unreal Editor, and it either was version 1 or 2, in either case they are very in efficient, and work on BSP only, over in later versions static meshes are supported and used, but you still need an external 3d modeller to create those meshes.

Blender has its downs, eg CSG modelling (called booleans in Blender) leaves much to be desired and used in frequently
However I find Blender very useful, and to me its very user friendly.
I did try Max 3, and hated it, too many buttons, Maya was just as difficult to get a grasp of.
I tried MilkShape, that lasted all of 15 minutes on my computer.

My hope is that Cyan will contact and work with various developers here, like the PyPrp plugin, ULM, PlasmaShop etc, these are invaluable tools, and would be nice if somehow they could support them.

EA games did support Fan Created tools for a short while for a game called Ultima Online that I once played, where they had a list of Acceptable tools to work with their game, i'm hoping that in the very least Cyan will do the same.
