You will get ONE e-mail. the monthly one. You can then click on the link to not receive any further communication.
For your address and phone number... I've never had them call me, but when I call THEM, they confirm by my phone number and address.
These are NOT pushy people, but they ARE helpful.

Put in fake stuff...
But seriously, legit websites that request this stuff will rarely mail you anything... And they'll call once in a blue moon. It's more of a record-keeping thing.

I had a go myself, and I think i'll stick with Blender, it just feels better and without a whole lot of distracting buttons everywhere.
Besides, it works on Linux

Good reaction.
The problem here is not that they ask you for this information (you probably give it away several times a week, filling out contest forms at the mall, etc). Lots of legitimate companies ask for this information when they need it.
The problem is they don't say if and why they need it and what they're going to do (and not do) with it. Specifically, there is no link on the registration form to a privacy policy or a security policy, in which they would publicly commit to keep your information private and secure. It is unacceptable for anyone to operate an on-line business without this. It is unacceptable to use a home address or phone number for later authentication (that's what a challenge-response system is for). It is unacceptable (and actually illegal where I live) to gather private information when it is not necessary for the conduct of a business transaction. Since this is free software, there is no reason here. "Record-keeping" is not a reason in itself.
Still, as Hoikas suggested you could enter false information. Otherwise you should consult your parents before entering your real address and phone number.

Hmmm, I forgot that most addresses are a map to your house. I have an indecipherable Rural Route mailing address.

Besides; they'll stop spamming you after about 6 years.

I got nothing other than the e-mail letting me know I had registered it and where to download. Since Caligari is now a Microsoft subsidiary I doubt you'll get anything you won't be able to easily opt out of.

The SDK is available for Truespace now. It's a beta version, and they want suggestions for making it easier/better.
For anyone who is a LOT smarter than I am where it comes to coding you can get it here:
