Uru is OURS
Re: Uru is OURS
I'd jump on the chance to update the Cleft so one can travel from their to the shaft to D'ni realistically again. But I down thats going to happen.

Why? That sounds like something that may require getting permission from CYan with the Myst V stuff, but I would think it's well int he realm of possible.
BAD is as good as he gets
Re: Uru is OURS
My goal is a plGLPipeline using OpenGL to port Uru/Plasma natively to Linux and Mac.
Re: Uru is OURS
My memory fails me. Have I heard a few months ago that MOUL was hosted on Windows servers instead of Linux?

Before you all go wild: The article said Cyan will still be hosting the dataserver. So adapted content will have to go through an approval process much like the original MORE plan.

Doubt. I meant Doubt thats going to happen. For the reasons you stated.
I already made a somewhat working version with PyPRP, that allowed me to take a ladder down into the caldera, and into Tiana's cave. Blockade of a rubble covering the cave opening into the shaft. With a Bahro stone in the rubble that links to the other side.
On the other side, I can either walk, or (once I'm done fixing the elevators) ride down to the bottom of the shaft, at which point another bahro stone links to a tunnel system, which ends in the cavern.
Thats the plan anyway.
I also want to have a go at some custom avatars. But that will require the Source. *checks GoogleCode and LaunchPad again*

Re: Uru is OURS
There's a difference between "anarchy" and "diversity". I see a great possibility for "diversity" as in a number of servers/shards/whatever opening up to cater to your flavor of Uru. Those servers, etc. will rise and fall based on the quality of their content and the ability of them to provide an environment which attracts the most people. "Anarchy" occurs when people take those differences personally and act to stop them.

Oops, I nearly missed that. That should be cleared up ASAP with Cyan, as that wouldn't be a minor thing.. With their limited ressources I don't see how they could handle that..

Not at all. He said "We will also host a data server with the data for MystOnline". Which makes sense, as some people will want the possibility of getting original, unmodified MOUL content. Even now, with Alcugs shards, some Ages can be hosted on specific data servers. But you know this already as you were a UU shard owner.
However in a subsequent post on MOUL forums, Chogon added that such a data server will have to wait for some time.

Re: Uru is OURS
Just a question: it came up on MOUL briefly, actually Lontahv mentioned it, if people (can) have their own dataset, what about corrupted vaults and all that? Or wouldn't it be the same with the MOUL source code (rather than the old UU or alcugs)? Or would that be something to hammer out shortly?
