Those community members should be ashamed of themselves for not paying the perfectly reasonable asking price of $2000 but rather
STEALING valuable software... Programmers have families to feed too!

Those members could always just use Blender.
It's not as if anyone is requiring use of 3dsMax.

What if Cyan worked with us on the PyPRP plug-in?
Just an idea, but it is something I'd be curious to see.

I think the only thing of the sort that would be possible is if some Cyan programmers would do some work on pyprp in their own free time, and on personal title.
Not impossible, just pretty improbable

Nah. As long as they earn less that $250k/yr; Obama will just make Autodesk give 'em copies for free.

Truth be told, at this point unless their Max plugin has a far superior UI I don't see why I'd switch over..
Over the last two years I haven't used Max at all, and I've gotten so accustomed to Blender that I'm much more productive with it that with Max. (not that I ever was very fluent with Max anyway..

) Sure Max has a large number of superior features, but for most things Blender works very well. (ok its UV mapping feature set is horribly painful)
Also, for the newcomer Blender is less intimidating that Max, and we already have a good deal of documentation going on here to make people feel right at home.
I dont' think the proportion of people using Max vs Blender will be that high, especially in the beginning.

Yeah, 3DS Max is very...complex looking. I like Blender. though I wouldnt mind a Maya3D Plugin, Maya is friendly.

Knowing us writers, we'll find a way to put the plug-ins into Blender if they aren't already compatible

We're very smart thankfully

We have 3DSMAX 06, I might actually have to learn something.
