My opinion is that we will begin working once we have enough structure built here to support the work that will be needed. Right now the forum is a new born.
I would say that (in my opinion again) we should have things warming up in a month or two. That would be very fast in terms of development.

Very lovely concepts and designs there. One of the problems that arise when going from a design to construction and creation is that you need to have very definite ideas in mind. So a few question about your design:
-- Where does the water go that comes from the waterfall down by the dock? Does it come from the tide? But after a while doesn't it fill up?... then does it leave during low tide causing the waterfall to reverse?
-- Are there really that many glass bird's nests? Maybe some of the trees have been killed, and burned by lightning too?'
-- Is there any indication as to how the 'glass structure' was created? Or any remnants of your construction of the hut?
--Any other animals or life?
Sometimes it helps to have other people scrutinize your designs to see if anything doesn't work or is out of place. I can think of many problems with things in the official Myst stuff that never quite stopped bothering me...

Great concept!!
One obstacle I can think of is the numbers of trees...that could create a lot of verticies, and that equals longer load times.
But I'm sure solutions can be found.
Another is light shining through the leaves may be another issue...I'm not sure if we have a way to create that "stained glass" effect with the tools we have so far, but it would be awesome to see!

Leaves could be handled as a canopy by having planes textured with a semi-transparent leaf texture above the trees.
Multicoloured lights would have to be done individually, and could cause problems because of the maximum light number (you can only have 8 lights on one surface at a time).

Can you filter light sources?

no idea... It should be possible though, and if absolutely necessary we could use lightmaps

I actually delt with most of those questions in my journal... Perhaps I should either scan that in, or type it on the computer, it is much more detailed than what I posted here... but for now, for your first question, the water comes from the tide on the other side of the brick wall, the wall was put there to keep exess water off the island durring storms. and, when the pond gets too full, there's a hole in it that it drains through.
for your 2nd question: yes, there were a few trees that were burned down, In fact when I first put the lightning rods on, they weren't retractable, and that kept the lightning from hitting the trees, therefore reducing the number of the Glass orbs greatly, and the birds with the sand nests doubled in number, because the lightning kept their numbers under control, so in order to reduce the extreme quantaties of the birds, and to make more glass orbs, I added the retractable lightning rod system, so whenever I leave the age, the rods will retract, and that solved the problem.
for your 3rd question, the glass hut was apparently created by using dried mud as cement, and gluing millions of the glass orbs together. It may have been some kind of temple, but it may not have been.
for your 4th question: I havn't really thought about other wildlife, cuz I'm still writing the journal, so I just now got to dealing with wildlife when I wrote about the birds. I'll try to type up the journal or something so that you can Understand better.

I love the age, but when the conversation about lightsources came up, a question popped into my head.
Now, this is a little off-topic, but I can't help it because I don't want to create another thread for it.
Anyway, question was, does Uru support translucent objects? Maybe I'm being lazy, but I can't think of any I've seen in game. No ice, nor glass. Scares me . . .

There is ice in Dereno, and glass in the windows of the Palace in D'ni. Besides, why would that scare you?
Okay.. So I've been itching to make
SOMETHING, so I figured I'd have some fun with the concept age here.
Here is the hut in Uru:

http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a107/ ... lender.jpgAs you might be able to tell, there are some scale issues I didn't work out properly before I linked to 'yinfara' for the first time.
And whats with the forums and pictures? The image tags dont work for outside URL's?

Oooh, nice!
I think this Age has a lot of potential and (in spite of how complex it may seem) shouldn't be too difficult to build and export!
