Perhaps that poll was a bit broad, but I think anything going towards age creation can be called something driven towards the purpose of age creation, so you could say that it is. But the way I look at it, writers should be doing and working with their own work, not anyone else's and not Cyan's for that matter, it doesn't belong to them so they have no right to be toying with it, its not theirs. I know you don't want Cyan stealing or tampering with your ages, it doesn't belong to them, its not their place to do so. Nor is it ours, and I think such actions should be prohibited from the guild. Playing with their "ages" contributes nothing towards "facilitating age writers and tools related to age development."
I think you misread the posts that actually count in this thread.
I remember now why I gave up talking to walls
And that was downright disrespectful. I posted this to exchange ideas NOT to seek disrespect and hostility nor have I done anything to deserve it (besides questioning your opinion, which shouldn't be subject to such things.) Which is no way for any guildsman to conduct himself, especially one of your position. I have no problem with someone offering a inverse opinion but to do so through disrespect is a big sign of immaturity, immaturity this guild has no room for.

In my opinion, this is where you are wrong. Playing with Cyan's Ages is the sole factor that made fan Ages possible.

The purpose of the guild of writers is?
http://www.guildofwriters.comThe Guild of Writer's mission is to create an environment where anyone, novice to expert, can express his or her talents. Whether you're an expert at code or a short story writer, many skills are vital to the The Guild's growth. We have many helpful people who can guide the beginner and a dedicated development team who are creating more versatile and easier to use tools.
The Guild of Writers, as it stands in its present form, was formed on the basis of many explorers collaborating to make something better. We take great pride in our accomplishments and continually strive to create great things whether they be content creation tools, ages, or something else entirely. For more information, please visit our discussion forum where the bulk of our activity is. We also have a publicly editable wiki available as an asset to our ever expanding knowledge base.

The only part of that text that defines what the GoW does is, "collaborating to make something better". Well, I dare say that all these "hacks" are indeed making "something better".
Failing that definition, you're left with a definition of "creating an environment where anyone, novice to expert, can express his or her talents". And, again, the hacks can fall into that category as well.
So, really, the Guild, is not falling out of line, nor is it "losing its focus" it is doing what it always has done, and should continue to do.

Good luck creating ages with nothing more than 3D editing software. Other than that; ALL tools used for creating ages have come directly from "playing with their ages".

I have said that I see the guild as a meeting of minds that ultimately adds to the sum total of ages I see the tools and their development as a means towards that end. The sum total of fan created ages already exceeds those available from Cyan.
If some of the guild see it as their focus to concentrate on looking at and making available for the enjoyment of others then so be it. I saw this poll as a bit of flim flam to ascertain opinion not as a lever to prise the guild into factions.
If I had thought that this was it's purpose I would probably gone with Britain's largest political group the "Apathy Party" and abstained.

Sorry J'Kla I don't understand what you're trying to say here.

To me it was beginning to look like the poll was being used as a device to split the guild something I don't want to see happen.

Let's examine what you're doing here. You're not looking at whom I'm addressing for the first point (I don't have infinite patience with Justin or Jamey; I was not even addressing you--I probably should have clarified that by quoting them). Second point, you're trying to tell the owner of the forum how to behave... That's just not cool in general. At least my finger doesn't hover over the ban button 24/7.

Does it really matter who he was addressing? Blatant disrespect is everybody's problem, not just those who are being disrespected. You may be the owner of the forum, but you don't own the guild.
