I'm not getting them up, I just want to keep little hope. Can I do that?

In my experience, what sometimes happens with companies is: that if management isn't honest, all the honest employees become stressed, start feeling bad about their jobs, and eventually leave. This old story about Cyan is pretty accurate, in my experience with them: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/5.09/riven_pr.html I do think it is possible for them to turn around, but I can't see it happening while Rand is in charge. And since it is a privately owned corporation, I don't expect any changes there ;) I've seen bosses very much like him before, including trying to sound sincere about something because they want to be a "new-style hip boss", but when it comes to it, these kinds of bosses just don't follow through on it in my experience.

There's your answer. Don't get your hopes up.

If you're talking about a post Chogon made a long time ago, I wouldn't know which one you are talking about. I would highly appreciate a quote/link if that is the case ;)

However, If you're talking about the post made last night, less than 24 hours ago, I'm completely floored at the impatience I'm seeing.

I can't see it happening while Rand is in charge.

So you are saying Rand should leave? why, that's new.

Rand is a great mind to run the company, maybe he just don't think we should know this and that. And if he does think like that than I (and most of the other community members) say he is wrong. There are tons of ways to show him Cyan Worlds should communicate with us, but kicking him out? that's quite extrem.

I disagree with you that Rand is a great mind. I think you are attributing more to him than he has actually done. Just because he runs the company doesn't mean he did the important work that was done in the past. Robyn and Chuck made the Ages, e.g. But more importantly, I'm referring to Cyan turning around and becoming an honest company, and not referring to them being more communicative, which is sometime that very well may happen.

If my memory is correct, this was during the discussions with GoW and GoMa about the FCAL panel. Chogon mentioned a few times that he wasn't the one with the details and that RAWA would come by and explain things, but I don' think we ever got an explanation...

As a sidenote, I do wish that forum had been made publicly visible once the discussions were announced :(

I think you are attributing less to him than he has actually done.

After all, he came up (with a group of others, but still I believe he and his brother were the big minds there) with Myst's and Riven's story and puzzles, which were awesome (and you can't say otherwise ;) ). Both you and me don't know Rand personally, so nothing is true. I say he can run a company because he did it well during Riven and early-Uru days, you say he can't because he ran it not very well during MOUL times. Nothing is more true or realistic than the other.

No, I'm saying that he *never* ran it well. Did you even read the link I gave? :P I think you think Rand is great, simply because you want a figurehead for the Myst/Uru games you've enjoyed, and don't want to deal with the underlying complexity.
...so nothing is true.
Nothing is more true or realistic than the other.

Are you giving up on reality in order to imagine that Rand is good? :P Perhaps you just mean to say that you don't know whether either of us are right, and so can't really discuss it. That would be okay.

Edit: If I remember correctly (and I may not), Ryan Miller (yet another brother :D) wrote the original Myst journals, and so is responsible for most of that story really. Of course, when it comes to the D'ni related stories, those are mostly the work of David Wingrove. (Actually, Ryan also wrote at least some of a first draft of the book of Atrus, but then they got Wingrove to write it instead.)

Yep, I read the artical you gave. There is always an underlying complexity, but the facts are still facts. Rand and Robyn led Myst to success. Rand and Robyn led Riven to success. So now you can say Rand was slacking off his work while Robyn, Ryan, Richard, or whoever you want did everything. But that's unfair and unrealistic, don't you think?

Can Rand run the company? I say he can, but not the way he does now. Does that mean he should leave? no, considering he led Myst and Riven to success (with several others, but he still did it). And no matter what artical you give, facts are facts.
