Unfortunately, many people have issues in that age (and in Box Age, too). Sometimes even the graphics driver crashes.

Thanks for posting the stacktrace, maybe those of us that can read this data can extract useful information from it.

I get a stack error as the DI client tries to load...gets past the Ubisoft screen but at the Cyan Worlds screen this shows up:

Did you read and follow the installation instructions for Deep Island, mainly the part at http://www.guildofwriters.org/wiki/TPOTS_Installation ? Is there anything specific to your setup, anything out of the order? Which Windows version do you use?
You could try removing the intro videos entirely, which also cuts down the start time. They are called Intro<number>.bik and you can find them in the avi folder.
