I would have some in mind. I'm a great fan of Fan Ages right from the beginning back in April 2010 on the infamous and contreversial Pelishard. Apart from few ages, my overall appreciation is far more high than (what I'm feeling talking with fellow explorers) the average lambda explorer. I have fun time going back to a fan age even if I went there 100 times already. I love the ages for different reasons too.

I had kinda hoped you would compromise, although none of my ages are "High Quality" they are free, a high quality age like what Cyan produces are not produced by one person and are not free.
However if your still interested in the Walking Maze and you can give me a better idea (perhaps some Concept art) on what you had in mind as an update we may be able to come up with something.
Of coarse their is another option. Im not familiar with it but I hear a new version of PyPRP what ever that is may be an viable solution.

Either way MOULa is in need of some new content

Inspired by this topic I roamed many of the fan ages a few days ago and today to see
which ones might most likely meet your standards and I decided to choose to propose
those ones which provide the most d'ni-ish ambience and environment ... :P

I believe almost everyone would love to see something like Tweek's 'Fehnir's House'
which is just the awesomeness ... I suppose almost every explorer would expect a
D'ni home to look at least similar to this one ... :D

The same applies to the other ages depicted in the GoW site banner which are the Eders
of Tweek and Whilyam 'Fahets' and 'Bimevi' as well as Whilyam's 'Maw' age which are all
beautiful and of good quality ...

Yeah, the ages which would immediately fit into Uru/MOULa and into a D'ni environment
could be the following ones:

There are some of the D'ni Location Contest (March/Sept 2010) where 'Fehnir's House' was
one of the contributions, and there is the 'Age Maps Gallery' contributed by Egon as well as

Next on my list of candidates would be 'Kaelis' Pub Office' by Kaelis which would be awesome to have for
parties or any other gatherings ... This one is even more beautiful than the great one on the TOC Shard ... :)

Wouldn't it be just awesome to see many people sitting there at those tables and standing

I suppose many of you have already heard of or even enjoyed the old and absolutely stunningly beautiful
'Nick's Office 3D' by Rusty and others, yeah, he created magic already before the Vothol Gallery, and the
interactive 'D'ni History Puzzle' ... There was a talk about and the executables were provided by him on the
MOUL forums in 2007, please have a look here ... I've posted some beautiful screens here ... And please see

I was asking if I could suggest some ages but Janaba took the lead and posted some nice ideas ;)

I agree with the ages you gave wearing a "normal explorer" hat but I have some reserves on the "playability" of such ages wearing a "skydiver" hat :lol:

In Sholek's Temple we can do some nifty tricks using only walk-jumps and run-jumps but that's about it for your list above.

I would add my preferred age from Whilyam which is Fens. This age is not only breathtaking visually, you can play for hours (I've been there done that :D ) climbing on tall marsh trees or jumping on smaller plants.

I think the general idea, discussed during the formation of Gehn, was to start by going through the best of the best, which in this case have already been voted on and selected through those contests. It also avoids any one person or small group making those choices.

Lots of little things and a lack of focus have prevented the necessary conversion.

The ages in the site banner are good examples of GoW work, why not convert them to MOUla?


NOTE: I am not an age developer and have no clue how complex this age but I do understand that the formats are very different but I thought I would put this out there just the same.

As you say, the file formats are very different, and there are a few gotchas from PotS to MOUL. We often require direct cooperation from the age authors (who will need to make changes in their blend or max file) in order to achieve a proper conversion. We've been getting bogged down in other work and haven't actively chased down any of the authors of those ages... If they were to approach us, I think we could get some of these ages converted.

Of course, once we get the age converted, we then have to think about where to put a link in game. Nexus links only make sense some of the time [D'ni locations are quite convenient in that Nexus links make sense ;) ], and we definitely don't want to make it too hard to scroll though that list... And, of course, we don't have any max files for Cyan's ages, so to modify them, we would need to add in new PRPs (which would be a separate step to update if we ever get those max files). Accumulating tons of additional add-on PRPs isn't exactly fun :(. So, yeah, lots of process issues that still haven't been worked out.
