Okay now.

First, sorry for not being active here for some while. I've been very busy with programming, debugging, designing and thinking about the best technical solutions.
Well, after weeks of work, writing about 250 kB of PHP program code, 150 kB of template HTML, installing software packages on the linux server, configuring, and testing, the server is online now, up and running. :o

I should say that it's to be understood as a beta version for now. There's a lot which I would like to improve, a lot is still missing (for example the sound/music area should get the ability to play sounds before downloading), and the license-regarding texts are still not filled-in (lorem ipsum...) but, well, it's running.
That's because I'm still unsure which license model to follow. Some want "everything public and free", some don't want to give their music away under these conditions, but the technology is working. I someone would like to write those legal texts for me to be filled-in, greatly appreciated.

Now, please create your account and test, if you want. Or simply use it.
Oh, and I think it's a bit early to make a public announcement (the GoMe asked for the privilege to announce it), so please keep it private for now (LOL!). Only few people read this forum, right? *grin*

So, here's the address: (currently not TextURU.ORG, the domain has already been registered but is not nameserver listed)
http://www.texturu.de

Tell me if you like it.
:D

Well, yes, that's a bug I'm aware of, but currently did not find a solution. Seems to appear with .blend-files, and browser-dependent. You used Firefox, right?
The effect appeared suddenly when I installed the gd library support for PHP, which leads to "PHP registered streams" containing only "zip" now, instead of those lots before. Currently I don't know how to fix, but clicking right and chose save as instead of left click should work. Any idea, anybody?

Many people use .tga for textures, since it has alpha support, and good compression, as well as being lossless. I'd highly suggest adding support for .tga uplaods to the server.

Very funny, I mean to reference that the welcome page for the texture website is written in Latin. I know German when I read it and that don't look like no German I ever read.

Regarding the welcome page, it's just this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorem_ipsum

because the final text is not done, I needed some text to fill in. :D

Sehr interisante! I learned something new today, awesome!
I often think that if I put my foot in my mouth often enough I will learn to recognise the taste of shoe leather.
