I cannot wait to visit Breldur! Everything looks really good, even with the low quality fraps recording! And the size...

Wow, that is great

How long did it take you to create all that? It must have been ages (literally

)

Woah.
Every time I see that a new topic is in the builders section, I keep wishing that it's a new picture from Breldur. I definitely didn't expect a whole video.
Let me go take a bath in nuclear waste because I give this Age 5 thumbs up.

Jonnee, this is absolutely stunning.
Those paths one has to go, the trees and palms, the rocks, water, sky... you have got the right perception how an age should look like to make us feel it is real and alive. While watching - forgetting my mouth left open - I thought I teleported from URU right into Myst VI, and sometimes expecting a D'ni coming around right after the next corner.
This will become one of those rare ages where one expects to be more behind. Behind the rocks, under the floor, in the sky or water - something mystical, but existent, hidden. Something which invites us to visit this age again and again.
*thrilled*

great way to put it. It does look highly realistic. Even the fences and wood look old and weathered, not all symmetrical like I've seen so many times before. This place looks like it was actually used by people, and it looks like the structures were built around the environment( which is what actually happened).
That room with the machines gives it a promising outlook for a good storyline. Pirate ships don't come to a port by themselves without a good reason.
I definitely look forward to exploring this age and letting my mind wander.

*hehe* I knew everybody would react to the video link like this.
To be honest: I need that kind of appreciation. It's the drug that moves me.
But everybody forgot to praise the Tiki god!!!

We have to burn a virgin!!
@diafero: I started in February.
@tachzusamm and Aikijitsu, both of you have betrayed an important rule, that everyone should add to the basics:
1.) If you write an age, then think about the objects, buildings and the materials that you use in this age.
For example: Breldur is an island in the middle of nowhere, somewhere on the ocean. What kind of used materials would do look realistic?
the answer: Only materials are realistic, that are reachable to the people on this island. (wood, gras, sand, some stone, some floating refuse...) If you want to use some metal in that case, then it should match to the other materials and it should make sense.
2.) If you want to ease the creation of objects: Copy and paste them if you can! But make sure, that you vary them a bit. Move some edges and move their textures a bit! Stupefying regularity disrupts the human eye. But if you add some changes it makes the look much more believable.
3.) Play with lights and shadows! Huge objects have to be dark at one side, it's an unalterable rule of the universe.
4.) Add realistic sounds to the age! I'm talking about music and the sound of animals. Foot step sounds make you believe that you really are there!

2007 or 2008, that is?

Great job, but, then the time factor rolls in...the second month of the year, ordinarily containing 28 days, but containing 29 days in leap years.

Huh? I broke a rule?
I haven't even started building my age yet. In fact, I haven't even learned enough of blender and Python to even know how to make anything at all. Maybe I mis-understood what you were saying, but I was talking about other games anyway. I've seen people make environments in games that just look like a bunch of colored cubes stacked on top of each other.
Don't get this the wrong way either. I'm not offended....just a little confused is all.

I assume Jonnee meant "bespeak" or "reveal" instead of "betray"

("reveal" and "betray" do both translate into the german word "verraten", which has this two meanings, depending on the context:
Jemanden verraten / betrĂ¼gen - to betray someone
Etwas verraten - to reveal something, to give away a secret)
