I think I like the lighter /colour/ of the bright texture, but the texture itself seems.... GLARINGLY busy to me. The bricks are so bricky!! Plus, they don't really match the contours of the wall, to my eye; the texture's lines are so square/rectangular and so crisp, its overpowering, but the structure has all these graceful curving lines and they just seem to not match. I realize that this is a huge project and beautiful and much more awesome than I could manage personally, but perhaps you need a texture that's the nice, brighter colour, but not quite so, i don't know what word to use, maybe intense? Less prominent? When i look at the pictures, all i see is bricks, i have to concentrate to see the architecture. Do you know what i mean? haha its marvelous though, keep up the good work!!

I agree with you , that it is very busy.

To see it without bricks i used avery simple small seamless granite texture

This one.

But then it is still very busy.

I think the lightning is to extreme, i will try to alter that first.

The simple texture looks like this.

Well this will be it.

I changed to a softer lightning.
I took my old dark texture but changed it to less dark and less contrast and a bit bigger to get less "stones"
Now i will try to make the light coming from the windows give more influence to the environment.

I won't post further pics of the same, i start to work again.

Thx wam,
Yes i agree, i think is is also more in line with what Tachzusamm initialy said.
But its good to do some trials with extreme settings, it helps to find the optimum.
Its leads to what the germans say " Fingerspitzengefuhl", in the end it saves time to have that.

Fingerspitzengefuhl???
Forgive me but it has been 25 years since I was in Germany but are you saying "information at the tips of your fingers"???

In a way yes.

The fingertips are very sensitive.
To the blind they give all the important information belonging to " materials" and "live".
The blind can even read books with them.
You only have to learn to interprete this information coming from your fingers.
A pianoplayer has sensitive fingers, its an addition to his sences, and hearing.
An artists has them, to sculp his clay into the forms he wishes.

In fact all creativity is about to be open to "feelings " and senses.
The strength from "above" is coming to us, when we reach our hands to the sky through our fingertips into our heart.

Combining this all leads to the metafoor. Fingerspitzengefuhl.

A thing you need to have when crafting anything, to do it right in one stroke, because an inner voice tells you that this is the right way.

Thank you

In the US it means basically the same thing

If you have something at your fingertips, you can get it, understand it and use it very easily:
He had all of the information he needed at his fingertips.

Ahhh, what a relief for the eye ... it's good that you changed it back again, dendwaler, but as you've said it is also good to try something different and compare etc. to get through experience a more and more refined 'Fingerspitzengefühl' resp. sensitivity or instinctive/intuitive feel within your 'fingertips' almost literally in this case ... ;)

"Fignerspitzengefühl" is not about having information available easily... it's more like, if you are tuning something (like the lighting of a cathedral) and very minimal changes can have large, even fatal effects, and you need to be very careful and do only small adjustments here and there and kind of "feel" ("gefühl" is "feeling") in which direction to go - then you need "Fingerspitzengefühl" to find the right settings, as only the tips of your fingers are sensitive enough to do such small adjustments. If you use other senses/muscles, they are just too rough, too coarse-grained, fur such fine work.

My favourite dictionary translates "Fingerspitzengefühl" to "tact, sure instinct, flair, intuition".
