RAD 2 July 2008 Contest
Re: RAD 2 July 2008 Contest
Strange enough, I had no problems viewing shell 232 after it was loaded in 3-5 minutes, but I did have problems looking at both Mar's shell and Di Gama's - they gave my system a serious strain rendering, slowing movement down considerably.
One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.

Same here. I really like the cottage shell, but the books somehow got messed up. After that the linking book to the hub was messed up too. After linking to Relto things got back to normal.
Re: RAD 2 July 2008 Contest
Something is terribly wrong there, Shell 427 has virtually nothing in it.
No offense, as I still keep going back to try getting that ball up

The problem with Mar's shell is everything is a shadow-caster. Turn off shadows and you'll be fine.
What I don't know is if we should give the bad performance ages really bad scores in some of the categories of if we should disqualify. I almost couldn't even lead Katreeny's shell... and Mar's had horrible lag, and Di Gama's had now content at all IMO. The problem with disqualifying them is that that leaves only 3 contestants and that's horribly few.
Lets make some rules for the next RAD about face-count, lack of anything, etc.
Well, this is going to sound really mean but I hope you other judges are considering giving lesser scores to the ages that were laggy. We don't want people to be encouraged to make laggy shells. I mean, if that shell can crash a whole district, imagine the district full of shells like that.
Oh and all of you contestants; your shells look great! Yes, even the ones that cause massive lag.
Oh and about the ball and hole in your shell Di Gama; does it do anything when you get it in (the reason I want to know is I don't want to go insane trying to roll it up the hill
).

Mmh, I can fix that in the prp files too

Please try to judge these entries as fair as possible. Granted, there are performance issues with some of the shells; so, their Stability scores will probably be lower than the others. However, this could conversely mean that the Visual Quality could be higher: finer resolution objects, shadows, etc.
The only grounds for disqualification were if the shell crashed URU or it was not submitted on time. Slow performance still means that you're able to view the shell.

Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.

Lol I decided to drop in the hole in 427 myself. Down there I could click on something but nothing happened. I will try again though since it made me curious

Re: RAD 2 July 2008 Contest
I agree with Robert.
Nevertheless today was the worst day since long. Last night I explored some of the shells and all was ok. Today I wanted to continue, but Uru crashed, I got the BSD and had to reboot. Before launching I had removed the KI images out of that folder, cause it was terribly full. Could that be the reason?
Anyhow, I reinstalled ABM and wanted to install Pots, but Uru insisted I had to install ABM first. I then tried to install ULM, but that didn't work either. Does it need Pots?
I was near at becoming insane. After 5 hours finally I have a running version and can visit the shells again. I instantly saved a backup. I had one once, but couldn't find it anymore.
Oh well...
