I wanted to put in a tram system ride, allowing the player to visit another part of the age, that is outside the spacial boundaries that the RAD imposes, but i wasn't planning on putting it in till well after the RAD is over.

Why not? I know I'm planning on adding other portions of my Age (whether accessible from the area being released now or not, I don't know yet). It isn't in the rules that the Age cannot be expanded on later and, if something like that were to be added, I would bow out of the competition.

That sounds fine to me. As long as the judges have a copy of the age at its end-of-RAD state, you can modify your age to your heart's content.
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.

Okay good. I know that we've allowed modifications after the contest before (Like with Zephyr Cove) but none of them had spatial requirements, and thats the only part that really worried me about it. Plus I knew that this contest was planned around a "small age" idea, but in development, I realized that I could do something really special with this age overtime, storyline wise, and expanding on it was the only way. Oonce people see the age, I think they'll have a good idea of what i mean :D

Thats one of the great things about the RAD contests, when its published at the end of the build time slot allotted, you can always go back, add more, fix stuff, virtually anything.

That reminds me, my shell is still stagnant in its build cycle, after RAD I fixed a number of issues, but still not done much else, most notably is the lack of lighting

With so many RAD contestants (3 up till now including me) dropping out of the contest due to RL issues, would it be an idea to extend the deadline for the RAD with two weeks, so we might have a chance to show off our work after all?

I know the R in RAD stands for Rapid, but I reckon 5 weeks is every bit as rapid as 3 weeks, and truth be told, the increasing ability to make stunning visuals does require a bit more developement time.

I don't want it to drag out any longer.

I will go insane with the details. :P

I'm kinda putting my life on hold here for this contest--don't want to have 2 more of them gone. :?

Part of me would love to have the extra time. But another part of me is going: "IS IT OVER YET?!?!?!?!"

I hate to see people dropping out left and right like this, but still, even with the extra time, wouldn't that be an unfair advantage for those of us that started on time (or near on time, I actually am using only 2 of the 3 weeks, as the first week I was still working on Serene)?

I'll leave it up to you guys, but y'all had better hurry up and decide as it's only a few days left.

Hey wait! Just had an idea.....

How about a "Late Entry" run off? Those that are not going to make the deadline this friday, instead of dropping out completely, give them that extra time (up to you all how much), and a new deadline. Then have what judges that can stick around for it, judge the "Late Entry" Ages in their own Catagory.

Hmm? Sound good yes? That way everyone can still submit, but the Late Entries will be judged on their own, and not with the Ages submitted this Friday.

Now, y'all would have to be honest with yourselves, if you've been working on the Rad Age for the past 3 weeks, you'll need to submit this Friday. Only those that already declared themselves as drop outs can enter a Late Entry. I know that's a lot of trust, but it's not like there's a $25,000 prize or anything.

Just a thought, that way we still have people able to show their work.

That sounds like a good compromise, but in my experience if you can't set the time aside for 3 weeks you won't do any better with 2 more weeks. Either real life intrudes or it doesn't.

My opinion as a completely objective outsider to the contest is that the time constraint is the most important factor in a RAD contest, so there shouldn't be any extension.

This is especially true in light of the preceding posts, because even if you can't submit your entry for the contest, you can still publish your Age at a later time and get recognition from the community. Nothing is wasted.

I have to agree with Chacal on this one.

There will always be next time. And what sets the RAD contestants apart from the others is that they did make the deadline. That we were lucky enough not to get more work dumped on us at the time of the RAD.

Ages are really fun to make without the RAD (even though mostly I personally don't get those very polished because I have all the time in the world  ). How many people are there that haven't worked on their age yet (because it'd be pretty unfair for there to be two ages that are judged for this category :? ).

RAD board and Judges: Do what you think is best but buy me a new brain if my current one explodes from extended RAD.
