What a mighty progress ... This looks so absolutely awesome, beautiful and sublime ... It must be a great feeling to sit there now in that impressive environment, your very own creation, while listening to some wonderful ambient, contemplative music ... Thanks for sharing and keeping us updated, dendwaler ... :P

your Cathedral is turning out wonderfully, if you don't mind me asking how did you get into 3d graphics, where/how did you learn to do such realistic and detailed work?
im not ashamed to say your work makes me green with envy and would love to be able to do something like this in Max some day but im still a bit of an amature

I think Janaba has spoken to me from the heart.
Unfortunately, my English is not so good that I can say it with my own words.
Your project is just wonderful Dendwaler :P

Thank you all for your kind remarks.

That always gives me the drive to continue.

@Charura
The chair is a model of a " Beethoven chair" so it is in fact authentic.

The better half of me (my wife) complained that nobody sits on that for fun.
In my remembers " Glenn Gould " was sitting on it uncomfortable and to low.

But no one else, i admit.

Reason to model a new one today as you can see on the next two pictures.
I believe this is better.

I also have to make the music score stand on the piano, i will do that.

@Karkadann,

I started with 3d after my retirement and learned mostly from the tutorials of Neils Hirsig.
.....and trial and error .
Believe me i have done wrong all you can imagine , but after a time suddenly you get it.
The texturing was the most difficult to grasp, but once you understand it , it becomes the fun part.
Texturing is absolute the most important skill to learn in my opinion. Take your time for it do it often with easy models.

Learn how to split up your models into easy to texture parts. Join those parts again after texturing. Don't forget to remove the "doubled vertices" after joining the object again.

Now please turn from green to a more healthy colour again Karkadann and don't underestimate the wonderfull worlds you have created yourself.

@Dulcamara

I can imagine you look forward to it, but even then, your time will be filled in faster then you expect.

Today i did the last additions to the south wing.

Now i stil have to vertex paint some light and dirt on walls in that area.

I hope that its not to " heavy" for midrange videocards. I am afraid for lag.
On my card from the Radeon HD 4800 Series, its still running fine.

Here another from todays addition.
.... and there are about 100 of those corners, all a bit different.
